1968 Chevrolet El Camino SS396. True 138 vin SS. Factory 396ss, a/c, power steering, bucket seat, Center console car and 12 bolt car. This is a project car. The 396 motor and 400 trans were rebuilt afew years ago and have very few miles on them. Just installed a New gas tank, sending unit and carb. The car starts right up and runs and drives. The a/c compressor is missing. Less than 5,000 SS cars we’re built is 68.
The Long and short, The car runs, stops and steers. I would not try drive it home just yet. Still needs a little fine tuning. Overall, it is a very complete And correct car. I have the original owners manual and title from 1983. This is a 2 owner car.
Most people will ask, does the car have rust....YES, the car has rust, but it’s not rotten...ALL old cars have rust !Again, The car is not rotten.This is NOT an up north rotted road salt car. Paint is peeling on the car. There Are bubbles here or there. There is a spot or two in the pans (does not need new pans). The car is over all VERY solid. I am a seasoned paint and body man and have taken pictures of the most common rust areas. This is a solid car to build. I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
