1977 Chevrolet Nova

1977 Chevrolet Nova

The 1977 Chevrolet Nova got a new promotional bent that echoed Volkswagen's approach in pitching the Beetle's lack of change as a virtue. Instead of focusing on any alterations, the 1974 Chevrolet Nova sales brochure explained that, "we've been building essentially the same car since 1968. We think we've got it down pat." These were the years of the first energy crisis as Middle Eastern countries cut back on oil exports. After waiting for hours in gas lines and fretting about the prospect of fuel rationing, thrifty compacts looked pretty good to plenty of Americans. The Nova fit the bill.

For consignment a true survivor with a Chevrolet Nova and a mere 29,082 miles clocked since 1977. It is mostly original, with definite original paint and interior being retained. A beautiful and well preserved engine bay looking much like it did in the showroom, and runs like a fine Swiss watch! Definitely a little used car and looking just fab!

Exterior
Original silver metallic bathes the exterior of this car, and it is fairly worn, with scratches, chips and slight dulling throughout, but no rust on the otherwise straight steel panels which have well minded gaps. Shiny trimmings surround the wheel wells, rockers, windows and door edge guards. Bumpers retain their nice shine too as do the rally wheels all around, which are wrapped in the original tires. A padded gray vinyl top covers the rear third of the car and is fairly clean and tear free. Noticed are Concours badging which denotes this car had several added options that were not typically found on the standard spartan issue Nova. Exterior would be the extra trimmings, side molding, landau top, and a different front grille complete with the script C on the turn signals and a hood topper. This car has a great stance and looks really fab for its age!

Interior
If you are a fan of red, then you'll be in heaven, as this red is INTENSE. Red smooth vinyl, tuck and roll seat matching cloth, and lower panel of carpet (in red) cover the doors. The Concours adds a touch of class with the woodgrain accents throughout. Power steering, power brakes, A/C, and a premium radio are installed into the original clean dash, dipped in...you got it RED! Long sleek benches are for the comforts of the passengers, and red carpet, very clean, floods the floors. More wood accenting on the dash, and a red fuzzy cloth headliner is nice and tight above. A shout out to the trunk which is absolutely showroom, with thin carpet liner in gray, and original spare tire.

Drivetrain
Underneath the hood, a shiny and well maintained engine sits snugly in the bay. This mill in 305 ci V8 format, has a 2-barrel carburetor atop and an automatic transmission on back. Way back is a 2.56 ratio rear axle.

Undercarriage
No rust (surface rust on suspension parts), and even no dirt! underneath, as it is low mileage looking, and structurally sound. Rear drum brakes, and front disc brakes are all power assisted. A very blue blocked buttoned up overall, underneath.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter and runs like new. Good acceleration from the 305ci V8. and smooth shifting. All functions were working swimmingly, and it was an overall pleasurable experience for the test drive.

Truly a find with this LOW original mileage, well kept, and wonderfully presenting, this Concours version with the snappy vinyl landau top, custom grille, excess shiny trimmings, and beautiful interior glowing in red, you'll be transported back to 1977, and you'll think you are still in the showroom, save for the high pressure of the salesman hovering over you!
