Description:

1971 Chevrolet Corvette Standard

Just weeks after being born on February 8, 1971: the Corvette was sold new at Daniels Motors in Colorado Springs. This Stingray then migrated northwest to the Reno area, where approximately 20 years ago, an older gentleman dreamed of owning an LT-1, but couldn't find one. So he took the nicest original numbers matching 1971 Corvette he found and performed a frame on restoration. When he was done rebuilding the beautifully sounding motor with roller rockers, headers and upgrades galore: the power plant now produces approximately 425 Horsepower. This neat Stingray also comes with lots of original 1971 documentation pictured below.
EXTERIOR
The body is straight but the condition of the repaint in its factory original "War Bonnet Yellow" color is a 10-15 footer. The doors, t-tops and factory removable rear window all still operate smoothly. All of the weatherstrip has been replaced and remains soft to the touch. The headlights and the wipers are functional and we installed a new wiper switch. We additionally installed brand new raised white letter radial tires on the factory original rally wheels. Attesting to the car's originality, the same worn (looks original) key operates both the door lock and the ignition.
INTERIOR
The interior appears to be very original and as such not perfect but suggestive that the 74k mileage on the clock may be original. The lower dash pads and seats are likely all original and show small imperfections. I replaced the top dash pad because the speaker holes were conspicuously worn taking the opportunity at the same time to install new speakers together with a bluetooth amp so music/ apps can be played from any smart phone!Even the 4-speed shifter’s “positive lockout reverse” remains functional.
All of the original factory green face gauges work (except for the clock), their beautiful faces remain crisp sitting in a new reproduction bezel. You may also notice we installed a new set of custom “Saddle” Lloyd’s floor-mats with Corvette cross-flags. We also installed new reproduction rear compartment door frames and they work well. The door sill plates are new reproductions too.
MECHANICALS
The motor compartment is beautiful presenting the original numbers matching rebuilt 350 cubic inch motor remaining mated to the factory 4-speed transmission, and make no mistake about it: this car is fast. When we got the car, it had not been driven regularly for some time. We installed a new reproduction gas tank with new sending unit, and performed a full tune up/ fluids change before realizing the gift the rebuilt motor is to the car and its driver. The motor is so well balanced and blue printed that at idle, the motor runs so smoothly, I sometimes instinctively check the tachometer.
It doesn't appear that any part of the car's clean undercarriage has not been rebuilt or replaced with such attention to detail that suspension pieces were painted (i.e. half-shafts, a-arms, etc.) All of the bushings look good and the car held the alignment we put on it after I bought the tires. The rebuilt brake calipers stop the car well. The exhaust has beeen replaced with an aluminized system with excellent flowmaster sounding mufflers in excellent condition.
