1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Pro Street
The absolutely iconic lines of the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air have been given a modern and powerful makeover. This has slick look and a stance that signals there's serious fuel-injected power under the hood. But what you may not expect are all the extras, like the full custom A/C interior. So dig into all the details on a coupe that's powerful, loaded, custom, and legendary. This one instantly announces it's something special. These Bel Airs always look impressive in black, especially when someone invested in a high-gloss finish. The '57 is a true icon, and so they took their time to make sure it was represented correctly while still getting the speedy makeover. For example, the bumpers have been replaced with fiberglass units to lighten up this speed machine. But these silver-painted units are so well-integrated that some may never even notice these are not factory issue. It retains all the legendary trim pieces, like the dual jet-inspired hood ornaments, the full-length trim with fan-style ends, and even the gold chevrons that remind you this is a V8 classic. But as much as this keeps vintage elements, everyone instantly recognizes the street eating stance that comes from those meaty Mickey Thompson tires tucked under the rear.
The interior strikes a balance between full luxury and all-out speed machine. It starts with an attractive full red package that includes high-back bucket seats finished in a supple leather. There are terrific features, like cold-blowing air conditioning, a full-length center console, power windows, and a new Kenwood AM/FM infotainment touchscreen receiver with Bluetooth and backup camera. There's even custom LED lighting so you can make sure everyone gets a good look inside. But no one will mistake this for a coddler. After all, you have a 12-point roll cage that ensures strength is a priority. The Hurst shifter is in that ideal place for your right hand, and there are all the right gauges you need, including a huge tach mounted at eye-level with a very handy shift light.
Under the hood continues this car's theme of terrific shine and the right upgrades. In fact, all those polished components make this one already prepared for the car show. While the Tri-Five Chevy debuted the small block, this one is running serious big block power. It's a 402 cubic-inch V8 built for performance. That means a bored .60 over kit, roller camshaft, roller rockers, aluminum heads, a Weiand Stealth intake, and topped with a FITech fuel injection system. And ceramic-coated headers that feed the growling dual exhaust. Plus, it has the right supporting components, like fabricated valve covers and a Griffin aluminum radiator. The Tremec five-speed transmission is a stout unit built to handle big block muscle and includes a CenterForce clutch. This sends the power to a stout Ford limited-slip 9-inch rear with Strange Engineering 35-spline axles. As you look at the undercarriage photos, you get to see the full view of the Art Morrison chassis. Plus, you'll see the upgrade independent front suspension, ladder bar rear, rack & pinion steering, and Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes.
