Here is a very rare, highly desirable, numbers matching, date code matching 1966 L-72 big block Corvette convertible.It is a very early car (698). It was built approximately on the 7th day of 1966 production (in September of 1965).Being so early in production it is known as a L-72 450 hp car.As you know, later production cars were rated at 425 hp.In addition to being a 450 horsepower big block car, it also has the following very desirable factory options: power brakes, power windows, telescoping steering column, teakwood steering wheel, leather seats, one year only color and 2 tops. The side pipes were added later by the 2nd owner.

I am the 3rd owner. The 2nd owner had the car for 50 years.Included in this sale is his original title dated from 1967 and the original owner protection plan booklet. The last page of the booklet has the name of the original purchaser, the vehicle delivery date, the vehicle number, the original color code: 982 (Mosport Green), the transmission code: P0830 (Muncie 4 speed), the carburetor code: H (Holley) the engine block stamping number: T0907IP (427 – 450hp), the original rear end code: AT0611W (3:08 427 4 speed Positraction) and the original key code numbers.

DRIVETRAIN

The engine is totally, freshly, rebuilt (May 2019!!!!) and runs awesome. It was professionally balanced then assembled with new forged pistons (9.7 to 1), new rods, new forged crankshaft, new hydraulic Competition Cams camshaft and an all new modern MSD ignition system.Engine Block:3869942, date code I 2 5, stamped: T0907IPS100698. Cylinder Heads: both 3873858, both datedI 1 5, both rebuilt with new springs, valves and hardened exhaust seats installed for unleaded fuel.Intake Manifold: 3885069.Transmission: Number: tag: 3880855, case casting: 3885010, case date: P0830, stamped 6S100698. BODY

All original fiberglass panels, no accidents and never had fender flares. It was prepped and repainted the original color (Mosport Green) in laquer the summer of 2018.All new Paragon (expensive US made) bumpers, new tail light assemblies – for safety I purposely installed 4 brake lights instead of back up lights (all with LED’s for briteness), new front signal assemblies (also with LED’s for briteness), original grille, new gas emblem,original front fender emblems, new nose emblem, new tinted windshield and seal, original vent window glass (both) and original side window glass (both), new body weather stripping, new Paragon (correct) power antennae (not plugged in under dash – radio does not work), both original horns professionally restored and working, new fuel tank and sender, all new headlights and harness, excellent original spare tire tub, excellent removable hardtop with all new weather stripping, excellent white convertible top with all new weather stripping

INTERIOR

Mint original dash pads, excellent leather seat covers and door panels, new carpeting and sill plates, dash cluster is original and unrestored – all the original gauges work, new quartz movement in clock, original telescopic steering column, new metal on the original glove box door, original seat belts, very nice original shifter console, jack in rear compartment

SUSPENSION

All new calipers, rotors, brake pads, most lines, rebuilt original master cylinder, new booster, new rear spring, complete new rear trailing arm assemblies, new bushings in front and rear sway bars, new front inner and outer wheel bearings, all 6 new U- joints, 5 new radial tires on 5 original steel wheels, 4 excellent original hub caps, the frame side rails are excellent including near the rear wheels
