We recently acquired this 1977 Corvette, from what appears to be the second owner, according to the paperwork we have. The gentleman we bought this car from had purchased it way back in 1978 from the original dealer that sold it new. It has had the same owner since 1978 and many Corvettes for sale cannot say that. This car was well kept and well documented with about every receipt from day one on routine maintenance and service history, along with registration receipts and insurance papers throughout all of those years. The car is for the most part, is an original untouched survivor car, that has only had a few parts changed over the years. The engine and drive-train is original to the car including the intake and carburetor, but the second owner in 1983 had installed a set of headers and dual exhaust system and removed the exhaust manifolds and catalytic converter. There is an original receipt dating back then for this work done. The car sounds good and the exhaust system is still in good shape including the mufflers. We did replace the valve cover gaskets and repainted the valve covers along with a high heat paint on those headers. The body appears to be original and untouched with some of the original bonding seams showing with age. No real cracks and the front and rear bumpers are not all busted or up. The paint has some minor checking in places, mostly on the rear bumper. When the car is on a lift as we have examined, no undercoating, and all underneath and behind all fenders look nice and original with no repairs or damage. The doors open and close with ease and fit well. The hood, t-tops and headlight assemblies also all line up nice and fit as good as any you will find that are untouched originals. The window glass is original to the car, all in very good condition with no chips, nicks or major scratches. The paint does show its age and has some chips and nicks throughout, but overall presentable and makes for a nice driver. The rocker moldings and emblems are also nice and do not need replacing. For being over 40 years the car has held up well and from what I can see the car was garaged much of its entire life as the weatherstripping around the doors and t-tops do not need replacing. Most all labels, decals and even some inspection markings are still visible throughout the car. The stainless trim around the t-tops and windshield are also very nice and have no dings or dents. The luggage rack is also an original one as this car came with that as it was an option in 1977. I do not have the t-top brackets that it would originally have come with to mount the t-tops on, however those brackets and the strap are available as at one time they were not. The Unleaded Fuel Only label is still on the gas door lid and even the original gas cap still shows much of its original gold cadium plating. I personally have driven this Corvette close to 100 miles and it does drive out nicely. Very solid and tight with no play in the steering. Most everything works including the clock. However, I have noticed the clock not always working all of the time. The gauges all function, odometer and trip odometer still works, heater is very hot and even the a/c still seams to work. The power windows go up and down with ease. About the only two things I am aware of not operating on this car is the radio, and I believe it probably is the speakers, and the cruise control. Usually it is the transducer that fixes the cruise on these cars as I have replaced that item in the past. I just have not had the time to check those two things out on this car. The car drives down the road straight and performs well. No overheating that I have experienced either. This would make someone a great driver car and enjoy it day to day if desired. We have changed the oil and filter using the Lucas Hot Rod & Classic Car Oil With Zinc and we also changed the rear differential grease and added the positraction additive as recommended. We removed the original spare tire and wheel to show that it has really never been used. It still has the labels on it and the spare tire compartment lock is still there! Those are usually missing. The spare tire compartment lid is also nice and not all busted up. The previous owner just spent $1,357.28 on November 02, 2018 having all new brake calipers installed along with brake pads, rubber brake hoses, rotors turned and a new master cylinder. This was done in Saint Peters, Missouri as this was where the car has been for the past 40 years.
INTERIOR:The interior on this Corvette is very nice and all original. There is no tears, cracks or real heavy wear on the carpet, seats and door panels. It is in amazing shape. Well kept and stored inside as the gauges are nice and fresh with no fading. All of the needles on the instruments are crisp. All lights work. The dash pad is near perfect with no cracks or repairs. The console is original and shows some wear, but still in nice shape. The seats are the original leather ones and are in great condition. The carpet is original and is cut a certain way from the factory that the original purest's look for especially when judging. The carpet actually does not show much wear at all. It does not need replacing nor any parts of the interior in our opinion. The condition of this interior is a very strong # 2 as the paint we would rate at a # 3. We did have to replace the carpeted floor mats an sunvisors. Those are the only two items that we replaced. The rear storage compartments are nice and not all cracked up as well and the original jack and lug wrench are still where they are suppose to be. The overall interior on this car is impressive!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CHASSIS:The engine bay for the most part is original with the exception of the headers and the valve covers replaced with a touch up of paint on the intake manifold. The belts and hoses have been replaced at sometime along with the shocks. The shielding is still over the distributor and other than the headers, it has remained original. It is a matching numbers engine. The choke on the carburetor still works like it should! The headlights also go up and down with ease and still retain the original headlight bulbs which are not even available that I am aware of. The hood latches and most of the original raw steel parts still look great with no heavy pitting of any kind and only minor surface rust. Windshield wipers also function properly. The chassis does still look good for original and I do have several more photos that I can send upon request. Now as you can see some of the paint has come off the oil pan and some of the black paint on the frame and such, but if you really know your Corvettes this one will satisfy most anyone. It does not have any undercoating as many have had over the years, you can still see the raw fiberglass on many areas that were left from the factory unfinished, the frame only has surface rust and no pitting at all, the a-arms and rear trailing arms are still in good shape, the rear leaf spring is still in good shape, overall in nice presentable condition for original. If someone wanted to go a step further you could repaint the oil pan and such parts and have it looking real nice for shows and such. I personally would leave it alone as they are only original once as many will say. We did repaint the mufflers as those had been replaced at sometime along with the exhaust system as previously mentioned. I would not be afraid to put this one on a lift and show anyone. We do welcome any inspections on any of our Corvettes for sale at our location as we do have a drive on lift to view our vehicles.

KEY 1977 FACTS:This was the last year to see the straight back window glass in a corvette.A new console held heater and air conditioning controls and accepted standard Delcoradios due to its increased depth. A new steering column positioned the steering wheeltwo inches closer to the instrument panel to provide more of an "arms out" driving position, and easier entry and exit. The alarm activator was moved from the driver-side fender to the driver-side door lock inlater production. The 'Stingray" badging was gone but new cross-flagged emblems were introduced in place of.New option K30 Cruise Control was first introduced but required automatic transmission.Leather seats were standard for the first time in 1977, but a cloth-leather combination couldhave been ordered. The headlight dimmer and windshield wiper/washer controls were located on steering columnstalks. Sunshades were redesigned to permit swinging to the side windows. The interior rearviewmounting point was relocated from above the windshield to the windshield itself. The bright trim work around the windshield that was on 1976 models was painted black startingin 1977 from sun glare. The stainless trim was left shiny around the t-tops and not painted black.Very early 1977 models that were built in August of 1976 still had orange engine paint but startingin early September the Flint Engine Assembly phased in the blue engine paint from then all throughthe 1982 model year. This was the last year for the passenger side map pocket and the 160 MPH Speedometer. The interior on the 1977 models still looked nostalgia matching those of the early 70's modelswhere in 1978 there was significant interior changes that made them look newer. I personally stilllike that look of the 1977 interior better than most.
