Wow! Is simply what I can describe this solid original un-restored 1977 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe. This 1977 Corvettehas only 26,473 actual miles and is a one owner car! Yes a one owner. We have the actual original 1977 Arkansas Titlethat is dated May 5th, 1977. We are a used classic corvette dealer in the state of Missouri so this original one owner titlecan be transferred to the next owner. The next owner of this corvette will be the second one! How many times can you saythat as most of these low mileage examples have been traded back and forth so many times you really do not know how manyowners it really has had! Not this one. Our business acquired this car on May 24th, 2018 with the miles showing 26,444. Wehave only driven the vehicle about 30 miles and it does drive like a new one. When you get behind the wheel of this corvetteand drive it, the car is so nice and tight you definitely know the car has not been driven hard or abused. The original ownerpurchased this car new on March 23rd 1977 for his wife whom drove the car until her passing in 1984. In fact it still has theoriginal Arkansas plates that are dated June of 1984 that go with the car. I have all of the registration receipts and inspectionslips when the license plates needed renewed. The last inspection that I can see is April of 1983 and the miles was 25,266.This original inspection sticker is still on the windshield of the vehicle. I was told he did start up and exercise the car on occasion, but as you can see not near as many miles were put on the car after her passing. The paperwork is simply amazing and I will list and get into that later in the writeup.
PAINT & EXTERIOR:For being 41 years old the paint is in very good condition. It definitely has been kept inside for all of those years. Both the front and rear bumpers have no cracking or even any paint flaking off and have plenty of flex in them. Also the paint has not faded like most where the colors don't match. Even when new the colors did not always match perfectly as the body was fiberglass and the bumpers were a urethane material. The doors, hood and t-top roof panels all do fit nicely. Paint overall is nice with the exception of a very few small nicks that have been touched up but not visible as much so in the sun. Even underneath the lights it still has its shine and no real major flaws. You do need to remember the paint on these cars were not clear coated back then like what is on today's vehicles so the finish is not always as good. I will say as being around many of these model corvettes and several with low miles, this one does stand out and looks way better than most. It does not need repainted or refinished by any means. Tail lights, side marker lights, grill assembly, all still look nice and fresh with little to no deterioration on the plastic lenses. headlights do go up and down and still retain the original headlight bulbs. All of the trim and stainless around the windshield is excellent and the chrome pot metal pieces at the top of the windshield have no pitting. The window glass is date coded original and very nice with no chips or nicks. I even believe the original windshield wiper blades are still intact and not rotted off. When you open and shut the doors they have that nice tight sound and no noises of loose parts. Side window go up and down with ease and are power and fit nicely. Weatherstripping around the doors and window glass does not need replacing either. Rocker moldings are nice and original with no real major road rash on them. Overall not perfect, but a very nice example of and untouched 1977 model corvette. I do not think this one will disappoint anyone. We strive to deal in on the real good ones and seek out those very low mileage ones like this. They are getting harder and harder to find and prices are on the rise, especially in the past few years I have seen. They are still one of the most affordable classic corvettes that you can still buy and are good investments. On a scale of 1 to 5 and 1 being the best I would rate this paint about a 2- as it is nice but not perfect. Better than just a driver quality repaint you see on typical cars for sale today. This car did have those original GoodYear SteelGuard Tires on those original optional aluminum wheels but we did decide to install a newer set of BF/GoodRich T/A White Lettered Radials due to age. I did actually drive the car down the road with those original tires on it up to 70 mph and amazingly they balanced out nice and rode very good. But I didn't want to take a chance with them as being that old you never know if you could have a flat anywhere at anytime. These tires on this corvette I installed were off another car we had and are in excellent shape with no weather checking. The size is P225/70R15. That was the size it came with originally. I do have those original Goodyear tires and are included with the sale of the vehicle. Would be used for judging if that ever happened. This car originally would have came with rally wheels and at some point the original owner installed these aluminum wheels which were an option for 1977. They are all in good presentable shape. Most 77 models added the aluminum wheel option as at first were hard to get from the factory due to supplier shortage. One photo shown with the GoodYear Tires on the car.
INTERIOR:I will have to say it doesn't really get much better than this. The actual interior in this corvette is all original and untouched. Original seats in mint condition with no flaws, original carpeting with the nice plush finish that you do not get when you buy reproduction carpet kits from the suppliers, original door panels with no tears around the armrests as commonly seen, original dash pad and gauges which as if they have been all refurbished and detailed but have not, needles on instruments look like they have never been exposed to the sun because they have not, super nice original leather steering wheel with no wear, original seat belts and labels, original sunvisors with the catalytic converter label still intact, original radio, original jack and lug wrench still behind passenger compartment with original labels of the lift up door lids, original t-top storage bags still there, no old car odor, just simply in amazing original condition. The only thing we did have to buy is a set of new carpeted floor mats as those were missing and not in the car when I purchased it. All gauges do work with the exception of the clock as it still is the mechanical type and only works some of the time. The radio works fine, tachometer, speedometer, odometer, center instrument cluster gauges function properly, heater controls work, etc. The air conditioning on the corvette is operating but not as cold as it should be. It still is the original R-12 freon and appears to have never been touched or altered in anyway. Most of these types of corvettes have had new carpeting, seats, etc and when that happens they never cut the carpet like it should be. The seat tracks actually rest on the front corners underneath the carpet and from the factory was a small cut on two sides that lift a small section of the carpet up and when the seats and tracks are installed, this section of that carpet rests on top to cover up the bolts that hold the seat down giving it that clean look. This one is that way as it is original. The ones you see for sale most with the seats installed the front seat tracks are bolted on top of the carpet exposing those bolts. If is wrong and if you are around any corvettes enthusiast that knows this you will see it immediately. It is a small thing but when you are in business at buying and selling these types of cars you know what you are looking at when you see and original example like this one. On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the best I would rate this interior a strong #2 condition.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CHASSIS:The overall condition is clean and "untouched original" for the most part. The engine and drivetrain are original to the car and are numbers matching. Even the spark plug wires are still original and date coded. Engine block nor oil pan has not been refinished as I typically do when I get a car like this in to refresh, but chose not to on this one. The valve covers still look presentable and are original, original carburetor and air cleaner assembly, original underhood insulation still in nice shape, original ignition shielding and around the plug wires as well, original dated alternator, the more you look and see the more excited you get as all of the components are original and still there! It is nice to see a car like this that just has not been touched. The chassis is clean and original and for the most part like all other components, untouched and original. The shocks are still dated coded, several inspection markings still visible on frame and chassis, tie rod ends still have inspection markings visible, bottom floors are solid with no rot or rust as in 1976 Engineers started putting a partial steel underbelly in the forward section for added rigidity, weight reduction, and to better isolate the cockpit from heat generated from catalytic converters, thus many do have rusty floors. Much of the exhaust system is original including the catalytic converter, however we did replace the rear y pipe and the mufflers from Corvette Central from the catalytic converter back. This is the correct type of muffler and not just an aftermarket one. We also did lightly paint them black as they were originally and according the the 1977 NCRS Judging Manual. The frame is a solid as they come and even the front cross member is not all dented up from a jack going underneath it. The finish on the frame is still original and the pull date and inspection markings are visible as I did remove the rocker moldings to clean them and clean any dust or debris that might have accumulated over the 41 years. I also did remove the spare tire and wheel and gave it a bath. It has never been down until now and has never been mounted on this car. Original GoodYear tire was still in amazing condition! The spare tire tub compartment was nice and original as well and did still have the original spare tire lock just like it came with. No undercoating at all and everything is nice and visible with no major oil leaks. The paint on the oil pan has weathered off as most all I have seen as the factory did not apply much paint to those areas. 1977 was the first year that the blue engine paint was phased in from the orange paint like 1976 models and older had. I am in the process of replacing the two fuel lines that are rubber that go off the fuel pump to the fuel lines on the frame. They had some age and decided to replace. I did look over the other belts and hoses and look nice and no rotting that I seen. I personally would leave the chassis alone but if someone was decide to spend a couple afternoons you could refinish a few parts on the car such as the oil pan and it would stand tall like a frame-off restored one. All original fenders that I can tell and no damage repairs to the best of my knowledge when looking up underneath the fenders and such with a flashlight. Pretty amazing for being 41 years old as I have said several times. One photo shown with the rocker molding removed and clearly visible inspection and chalk marking on the frame. Excellent rust-free frame. What little rust you see on suspension components and such is surface rusting from those raw steel parts. If you were to look underneath at even brand new vehicles on the lot today you will see this due to no type of clear coat and adhesive as the factory leaves those steel parts just like that.

NOW FOR THE REAL GOOD STUFF AND WHAT SETS THIS EXAMPLE APART IS THE PAPERWORK!!The Paperwork alone adds $$$$ to the car!
What is included with this corvette and kept for all of those 41 years is impressive. I have sorted out all of itand put it together in a nice three ring binder for the new owner. What is included with this corvette is as follows:Original Window Sticker (Not A Reprint) The Original One Is Torn But Still Readable So I Did Have Another One Made For ShowsOriginal 1977 Arkansas Title Dated May 5th 1977Original Pre-Delivery Inspection Dated 3-22-77Original Purchase Agreement Dated 3-23-77Original Installment Sales Contract (Loan Papers)Original Payment Plan BookOriginal Cliff Peck Chevrolet Envelope With The Original Salesman Card That Sold It To HimCopy Of Original Dealer Invoice PricingOriginal Arkansas Registration Papers From 1977Original Registration Slips From All Years 1977 through 1983 When Last Time Was LicensedOriginal Letter From GM Dated March 1979 On Updates to the A/COriginal Warranty Book With Owners InformationOriginal Freedom Battery BrochureOriginal Consumer Information BrochureOriginal GoodYear Tire Limited Warranty BrochureOriginal 1977 Passenger Car Maintenance Schedule 1 BrochureOriginal Sunvisor TagOriginal Owners Manual And Plastic Sleeve It Came InBoth Sets Of Original Keys and Knock-OutsOriginal Spare Tire LockOriginal T-Top Storage BagsOriginal Tires, Original Spare, Original Jack & Lug WrenchOriginal 1977 Sales BrochureOriginal 1984 Expiration Arkansas License PlateAnd Even The Original Window Sticker For The 1975 Pontiac he Traded In To Get This Corvette!
All in all this Corvette has the documentation! I don't think you will find one with any more thanthis or even half the documents this one has. I also printed out some information pertaining tothe 1977 model year and included that with the portfolio.
KEY 1977 FACTS:This was the last year to see the straight back window glass in a corvette.A new console held heater and air conditioning controls and accepted standard Delcoradios due to its increased depth. A new steering column positioned the steering wheeltwo inches closer to the instrument panel to provide more of an "arms out" driving position, and easier entry and exit. The alarm activator was moved from the driver-side fender to the driver-side door lock inlater production. The 'Stingray" badging was gone but new cross-flagged emblems were introduced in place of.New option K30 Cruise Control was first introduced but required automatic transmission.Leather seats were standard for the first time in 1977, but a cloth-leather combination couldhave been ordered. The headlight dimmer and windshield wiper/washer controls were located on steering columnstalks. Sunshades were redesigned to permit swinging to the side windows. The interior rearviewmounting point was relocated from above the windshield to the windshield itself. The bright trim work around the windshield that was on 1976 models was painted black startingin 1977 from sun glare. The stainless trim was left shiny around the t-tops and not painted black.Very early 1977 models that were built in August of 1976 still had orange engine paint but startingin early September the Flint Engine Assembly phased in the blue engine paint from then all throughthe 1982 model year. This was the last year for the passenger side map pocket and the 160 MPH Speedometer. The interior on the 1977 models still looked nostalgia matching those of the early 70's modelswhere in 1978 there was significant interior changes that made them look newer. I personally stilllike that look of the 1977 interior better than most.
