1969 Chevrolet (Chevy) Biscayne 427 - Sleeper
1969 Chevrolet Biscayne
1969 Chevrolet Biscayne two door for sale with a built 427 big block engine, automatic transmission, and exhaust cutouts. Very uncommon car in great shape, and it runs perfectly!
This Biscayne is a sleeper. At first glance it may just look like a regular 69 chevy, but start the car and the amazing rumble of the 427 lets everyone around know this is no mere grocery-getter. Open the exhaust cutouts (from the dashboard switch), and the rumble becomes a head-turning roar. This is a perfect car for summer cruising around town and taking to car shows. It ALWAYS gets plenty of attention.
For a 49 year old car, it's in amazing condition!. However, it isn't perfect...is a driver level car, and it is priced accordingly. This is an opportunity to obtain a muscle car that shows extremely well, but isn't so perfect you're afraid to get out and drive it.
I've provided a thorough and accurate description below of the mechanical and cosmetic condition of the car below, so you can make an informed bid. If there is something I've left out, or you need additional pictures, please message me and I will respond promptly to your request.
Engine and Drive Train
The Big Block Chevrolet 427 Engine is the heart and soul of this car. It is built with:
- Merlin II heads
- Roller Rockers
- Moroso guides and Bolts
- Keith Black piston'
- COMP cam and lifters
- ARP rod bolts
- True roller timming set
- Eldebrock RPM aluminum intake
The engine starts perfectly and pulls strong. The engine was built by a previous owner, so I don't know the exact horsepower numbers. I don't race the car, but it is plenty fast when you put your foot into it!
The car has exhaust cutouts controlled by a dashboard switch. When you open them, the mufflers are bypassed, resulting in a very very loud exhaust note.
A video of the exhaust note can be seen on YouTube at https://youtu.be/a2nlu3GRbMI or by searching for "1969 Chevrolet Biscayne - Exhaust Note with Cutouts Closed/Open" if the link wont work.
The transmission is a 400 turbo-hydramatic with a coan 3500 converter.
The differential is a 12 bolt open differential. The final gear ratio is 2.55.
The tires are like new and the wheels are staggered. 270/60/15s in the back ad 215/70/15s in front.
The car also has power steering, disk brakes in front, drum brakes in the rear. The car does was not equipped with power brakes.
Exterior
The exterior is in very good condition, but it is not perfect.
The silver paint is shiny and free of dents and dings.
All Chrome trim is in good condition. The front and rear bumper are painted, not chromed.
There are a few minor rust bubbles on the car (rear window, trunk lid, fenders, right rear wheel well), and 2 paint dime size paint chips in the right fender. While I need to point them out in describing the car's condition, they are very minor in the overall appearance of the car.
Interior
The interior is in excellent condition. It seats 6 and includes vinyl bench seats in perfect condition, two-point seat belts, and roll down windows.
Engine oil and water temp gauges have been added to the interior, as well as the exhaust cutout switch
All light, instrumentation, and options function correctly except the horn, radio, and fuel gauge. The dash has 2 hairline cracks above the instrument gauge. The car was not equipped with AC.
The headliner is in perfect condition.
Again, please message me if there is anything I did not cover or if any additional pictures
are needed.
Lastly, the car is also for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction if is no longer available
