Engine: I am starting with the engine because of the no expense spared build of this 434 cu inch monster. Startedout with a 348 truck block. casting # 3798962. Truck blocks were the only blocks that have reliefs machined into the tops of all cylinder bores to allow for largervalves. It was bored 30 over. Then a Scat # 1-42230B1 complete / balanced / rotating assembly was installed. This 4" stroker kit is what gives the engine the new cu Inchdisplacement of 434 cu inches. It has 10.8-1 Icon Forged domed pistons, andheavy duty "H" beam rods. The cam is a Comp cam # 249-48-602-10 Big Mutha Thumper Hydraulic full roller camshaft .586 / .571 Lift and 299 / 319 Duration. It is a 4 / 7 cylinder swap cam. ( cylinders 4 and 7 are swapped in the firing order for more power ) Thelifters are CompHydraulic roller lifters # 249-8959-16. It has onehell of a lump to it.The heads are Edelbrock Performer RPM 409 big valve Aluminum heads. Fuel is delivered by a Edelbrack dual quad intake and carb set up.Cloyes true roller timing set.Tellinghigh volume oil pump. Maxes out the oil pressure gauge at start up and holds 60lbs of pressure after warm up.Various other high end parts finish out the build. This combination produces about 575 HP and 515 lbs of torque. A true tire burning sleeper.
Drive Line: Muncie M22 rock crusher 4 speed. Original 1962 Chevyshifter with factory console. Heavy duty clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. Custom made Inland Empire# 502 drive shaft rated for up to 800 HP. 9" Ford rear end with a 3:55 Positraction center section. Moser HD race rated axles. The rear housing installation includes dual top links to handle the extra high HP.Original409 4 speed cars were the only factory cars to have both top links. Adjustable air shocks. The rear end is set up to handle much larger tires and wheels or slicks. Infact, there is an extra set of rear tires and wheels that come with the car. They are Dunlop 275/55-R17s. ( see pics )
Suspension: It is all new or rebuilt. Front to back. It has aHotchkisfront suspension set up. Drilled discbrake rotors up front and drums in the rear. All new brake lines. The E brake is not hooked up but all it needs is a new cable.
Body: Again, this was an original 56,000 mile survivor car with a straight body so not much was needed to restore it. Thepaint is over 10 years old and is a base coat clear coat system. It is inexcellenthow quality conditionwith just a few minor blemishes from age. All chrome andtrim is excellent. Glass is all great. All new weather stripping. The floor pans, body mounts, trunk pan, etc are all original and solid. Saved by the thick old school undercoating I suppose. The original spare and jack are in the trunk and I think the trunk paint looks to be original too. All lights work. Wipers work, heater controls, cigarette lighter, stereo, etc. New gas tank.
Interior: The interior is all original except the Impala steering wheel and the factory floor console and shifter, after marketgauges, stereo, etc. The seatmaterial is still in very niceshape except for the small seamseparation on the drivers side. ( see pics ) Even has the original carpet set and head liner.Gauges all work as well as does the speedometer.
Exhaust: Custom made and done verynicely with Dougs headers and Dougs electric cutouts.
All in all. This is a very expensive restoration that has a lot more money invested in it than what my reserve is set at. It is very fast and you won't see another one like at your cruise nights.
