Investment Grade Multi-Award Winning Chevy with Factory Duel-Quad 265/225 HP
1956 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 2dr Hard Top
INVESTMENT GRADE MULTI-AWARD-WINNING CHEVYBEL AIR 2-DR HT
Up for Sale is a 1956 Chevy Bel Air, 4-time Classic ChevyInternational Platinum Award Winnerin the Trailer Restored Jr and Sr Categories, and2-Time Bow Tie Chevys Gold Award Winner, also in the Trailered Restored Category.
An extensive frame-off, numbers matching, restoration completed in 1996 was done with the goal to return this car to original factory condition; which is the condition it existed as it rolled off the assembly line. Following restoration, this car spent its life as a Trailer Queen. This car currently exists as an Investment Grade in a #1 condition. This car is in Excellent condition that has been transported to shows in an enclosed trailer, and when not being shown, is stored in a climate-controlled facility. This car is not being driven. This car looks the same as it did following restoration twenty-two years ago.
The car was transported by an enclosed trailer to where it was entered in a number of National and International Class shows and was awarded the following Awards and Certificates:
Platinum Award- 22ndAnnual CCD Convention - Hosted by Virginia Chevy Lovers, Ltd - Location Chesapeake, VA - 07/13/1996 - 991 Points
Bow Tie Chevys Gold Award- Eastern National Convention - Location Charlotte, North Carolina - 07/12/1997 - 968 Points
Bow Tie Chevys Gold Award- 6thInternational Convention - Location Indianapolis, Indiana - 07/08/1998 - 975 Points
Classic Chevy International Platinum Certificate- 1999 Winter Nationals - Hosted by Sunshine State Classics - Location Orlando, Fla 02/06/1999 - 981 Points
Classic Chevy International Platinum Certificate- North Eastern National Chevy Convention - Hosted by Mason-Dixon Classic Chevy Club - Location Salisbury, Maryland - 09/12/1999 - 984 Points
Classic Chevy International Platinum Certificate- 25thAnniversary International - Hosted by Classic Chevy International - Location Orlando, Fla - 07/16/1999 - 990 Points
Based on the about dates shown on the awards and certificates the car shows started in 1996 and ended toward the end of 1999. It is believed this car to have been on display/stored in a highly environmental controlled area as part of a gentleman's collection for over the last 17 years -2000 to 2017.This restoration incorporated factory style markings on cars undercarriage and engine compartment. All components related to this car containing factory numbers that can be used to identify the component as the original item belonging to this car, thus making this a number matching car. The car's undercarriage is finished in Red Oxide. This car is highly and correctly detailed from undercarriage to the interior and engine compartment. I don't believe there to be any "aftermarket" products used. There was nothing added to the car that was not on the car originally which includes items that would have been used to enhance the safety and comfort while driving, such as seat belts, power steering and power brakes.
The fact that this car has only been trailered and not driven since restoration provides the basis used to authenticate its excellent condition after 22 years following restoration in 1996.

In the fall of 2017 this car was being offered for sale out of a gentleman's collection from the State of Georgia. After a personal viewing/inspection the car proved to be in an excellent #1 condition as described in the seller's description. My initial intention was to purchase a show quality car that was a Driver as opposed to a Trailer Queen.Once viewed, it was obvious that this car was not the car one would drive around in, which left me with a question to myself,"if I bought it would I be willing to drive it?â€Despite the fact I had no idea as to what I was going to do with the car I consequently went ahead and made the purchase anyway.
I determined the following changes were needed in order to ensure this car would bedependableand could besafely driven, only if required:
REPLACED TIRES- bias tires that came on the car contained no Date Code.Date Coding predates the Nineteen-Nineties making these tires at least 30 years old. Also, these tires have numerous flat spots, the results of being parked for extended periods of time. However, the tires are great for Concourse showing as they show no signs of wear or decay and no signs of ever being used and not required to be driven.I replaced both tires and wheels with new Coker replacements.Replacing wheels was a matter of convenience. New tires and wheels came already mounted, aired-up and balanced. The original tires remain aired-up and balanced.
REPLACED HEATER AND RADIATOR HOSE CLAMPS-original new or old clamps are notorious for leaking
REPLACED DUEL-IGNITION POINTS WITH ELECTRONIC IGNITION- notorious for constant adjustmentand not accessible with out removal of the Bat Wing Air Cleaners.
INSTALLED FAN SHROUD -Added fan shroud as Texas temperatures can be a challenge to vintage and classic cars in ensuring the cars operate at a reasonable operating temperature. No modification required.
Should the buyer favor the car in a #1 Condition over one that has been driven, then simply reverse the order of the above-mentioned changes by reinstalling the original tires and wheels, reinstalling original radiator and header hose clamps, reinstalling the original ignition points and removing the fan shroud. All the items that were replaced by those above will accompany the sale of the car.
REPAIRS/PREPARATION:
Tuned both carbs
Adjusted valves
Replaced both radiator and both heater hoses with show quality hoses
Replaced both valve cover cork gaskets
Replaced heater core
Turned/Trued brake drums
Following the above-mentioned repairs, I found it necessary to test drive the car in order to verify it operates as one would expect it to.The car ran very well, stopping straight with no brake pulling to either side and steered straight.Drive train performed very well. The one and only thing I found to be wrong was the turn signals were not canceling after initiating a turn.Since the horns worked, then best guess is that the canceling mechanism was never installed during restoration.(It could have been unnoticeable as long as it remained a Trailer Queen).I am including with the sale of the car a new DANCHUK horn and turn signal canceling kits. I don't have time, tools nor expertise to resolve this issue prior to listing on eBay. I am also including copies of the receipts detailing the work I had done, including tires and parts.
The test drive included a drive around the neighborhood on three occasions for a total of 24 miles. Despite living the life of a trailer queen for so long this Chevy is not only a beautiful thing to look at it performs as well as it looks. The "24 milesâ€, as listed, are the only miles I can support as being accurate.Indicated miles as currently shown on the odometer is "39,629â€.I have nothing to support the indicated miles as being accurate. If accurate, they occurred before restoration, not after.
SUMMARY:
My final decision to put thisChevyup for sell as aTrailer Queen, in anInvestment Gradecondition, was the fact that I am not at all willing to drive it and I am not willing to purchase a trailer just to transport it to local and small shows that can't offer anything that is capable of competing with this particular Chevy.
If you are looking for a beautiful Triple-Black 1956 Bel-Air Trailer Queen with 22 options and in #1 Condition, rated as Investment Grade, and winner of International Platinum and Gold Awards you may need to look no farther.

NOTE: If you are not familiar with the value relationship between a56 Belairand the factoryDuel Quad CarbswithBat Wing Air Filtersystem you might want to refer to theMay /June 2018copy of theOld Cars Report Price Guide,Page 24,half down the center column listed as1956 Bel Air, V8, 2d HT, under #1 State of Condition. Keep in mind that the base price does not include the cost of any of the options offered in 1956, other thanA/C adds 10%; Power Pack adds 25%; and the Duel QuadSystem adds 100%of the listed value of the car as reported in theOld Cars Report Price Guide.
This car meets the #1 Condition criteria described in the above mentioned Old Cars Report as it is a 95-plus point show car that is transported to and from car shows in an enclosed trailer, and when not being shown, is stored in a climate-controlled facility and is not driven.
The factory duel quad carb and bat wing air filter system has played a major part in setting the price of the 1956 Chevys, just as the Fuel Injection has in the price of the 1957 Chevy.
I recommend you not use the price of the car as the basis in determining its condition. Not all cars of the same year, model and make that are claimed be an investment grade are really an investment grade nor are they priced the same. The only way to know the actual condition of a car listed as investment grade is to make sure you understand what it takes to be classified as an investment grade, then physically look the car over. This will make sure you know what you are buying.
