1956 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 --

With its classic good looks and flashy exterior, this 1956 Chevrolet 210 is no doubt an attention getter. It's got a lot more to offer than visual impact, though - a thorough restoration has left it well-equipped for comfort and a great driving experience, whether your travels take you around town or out on the open road. With so many Chevys of this era decked out in two-tone paint jobs, it's nice to see an alternative take from time to... time, and the bright red shade on this 210 really stands out, looks great and has a deep shine. Few cars have hit the streets bearing more chrome than this model, so its condition plays a big part in the overall appearance. This Chevy scores big on that account, as all the chrome it's got on board - from the spectacularly ornate front grille and bumper, to the lengths of trim running its sides before sloping downward to converge with the rear bumper - is especially sharp, and give it a look that would be right at home turning heads at local car shows. The glass on all four sides is very clear and surrounded by fresh seals and weatherstripping wherever it's called for. Reassembly of this classic was done right, leaving it with body alignment that's on point wherever you look. The interior shows a lot of tasteful creativity and obvious craftsmanship. The bucket seats up front were harvested out of a millennial-era Mustang and, with their gray vinyl surface set off nicely by cloth inserts, they look great in this setting. The rear bench seat and door panels bearing raised bowties offer the same surface, providing a nice, finished look. Another standout feature in Chevys of this era is the dash area, and this one - just beyond the Lecarra steering wheel that's mounted on a chrome tilt column - is a fine representative. There's a full complement of Autometer gauges residing in the fan shaped instrument cluster to go along with the column-mounted tach, and the cabin width stretch of chrome trim is as clean as you could want. A retro-style AM/FM cassette stereo sits ready to attend to your audio needs, and an aftermarket air conditioning system has been added to keep you and your passengers comfortable while on the road. The trunk area in back is in good order, with a full-size spare resting on its floor and fresh rubber sitting under the deck lid to provide a good seal. This '56 features a strong assortment of components that make it a high-powered yet versatile performer. A 350-cubic inch crate engine sits underneath the hood, crowned by a 4-barrel Holley carb just underneath a chrome air cleaner, and it pairs with a 4-speed automatic 700r4 transmission for a drivetrain that provides good off the line acceleration, as well as nice, easy revs on the highway. With fewer than 10,000 miles logged, the V8 is just hitting its prime as it sits in a very clean engine bay, with fresh hoses and well-routed wiring everywhere you look. An aluminum radiator is up front to keep temperatures down in more demanding conditions. This is classic is a joy to drive, with power steering to make navigation a low-effort affair, and power disc brakes at all four corners for dependable, fade-resistant stopping power and this mid-'50s boulevard icon meets the road on a set of 15" American Racing wheels that are outfitted with Cooper Cobra radials.
