ALL-STEEL '34, CRATE 350 ZZ4, AUTO, MUSTANG II CLIP, LEATHER, VINTAGE A/C, SWEET
1934 Chevrolet Standard
After years and years of looking at Ford hot rods at shows, magine the positive responses you'll get in this clean 1934 Chevy Standard two-door sedan. No fiberglass replica, his clean Bowtie rod has a fantastic vintage look that's full of neat details and thoughtful upgrades to create a hot rod that can go anywhere in style. The color is from the Oldsmobile Bravada (RIP), nd the metallic red finish looks fantastic on the boxy '30s shape. Nobody's building fake 1934 Chevy sedans, o this one has factory sheetmetal and a clean look that hasn't been radically altered from the way GM stylists designed it more than 80 years ago. The flowing fenders look like they belong on a much bigger, ore expensive car and the Art Deco hood treatment looks trick, ven today. You'll note that nothing has been chopped or altered, o there's still a beautiful winged hood ornament atop the painted radiator shell, set of elegant door handles, nd even a rear-mounted spare tire. Heck, here's still a fabric insert in the roof! Finish quality is excellent, ith a deep, rilliant shine and only a few signs of use, hich is easy to understand given how well this one drives. The bumpers look almost new and were surely refinished or even replaced when the car was built and we especially like the little oval peep mirrors neatly installed on each door.Inside it's thoroughly modern, ith handsome tan leather bucket seats that feel better than the chairs in your daily driver. Expertly finished, he entire driver's compartment oozes quality, ith fitted mats, eautifully trimmed door panels, nd lots of thoughtful touches like the overhead console for the AM/FM/CD stereo head unit. The dash was color-matched to the body, ust to add a splash of color, ith the steering column and window garnish moldings painted to match. Vintage-looking Dolphin gauges are fitted into the center of the dash, long with the controls for the Vintage Air HVAC system, hich uses eyeball vents in the outer edges of the dash to keep the interior nice and comfortable. A wood-rimmed Grant GT steering wheel on a tilt column makes it easy to sit back and get comfortable and the back seat is big enough for real-sized adults or a few weeks' worth of your gear on a long tour. Original cranks and door handles add to the vintage feel.Originally built with a 327, he ZZ4 350 cubic inch crate motor in the car today was part of a massive upgrade just 2500 miles ago. It's neatly installed and very professional, nd makes great power thanks to an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold and upgraded ignition system. There's enough chrome here to make it worthwhile to open the hood at shows, nd with a giant radiator up front, t never seems to get too warm out on the road. Block-hugging headers feed a custom dual exhaust system that's just about right for this elegant little sedan and a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission means it's effortless to drive. The front suspension is a Mustang II setup with rack-and-pinion steering and disc brakes, hile a 10-bolt GM rear end hangs on easy-riding leaf springs. A custom gas tank in back feeds the engine and modern tube shocks are fitted all around to really make this car ride and handle well. Staggered aluminum wheels are both traditional and contemporary, arrying 205/60/15 front and 225/60/15 rear blackwall radials.Standing out doesn't mean building yet another custom Ford, t means doing a great job with something a little unusual, nd this 1934 Chevy totally nails it.
