1965 Chevrolet El Camino
UP FOR SALE IS A VERY NICE ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1965 CHEVY EL CAMINO. SOLID CALIFORNIA BLACK TAG CAR STILL WEARING THE TAGS THAT WERE INSTALLED ON IT FROM SEPTEMBER 30, 1965 WHEN SOLD NEW AT ST. LAURENT CHEVROLET IN SONOMA, CALIFORNIA. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A FARM TRUCK SINCE NEW AND WAS PURCHASED FROM THE ESTATE OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE VEHICLE ENDED UP IN TEXAS LAST YEAR AFTER THE ORIGINAL OWNER PASSED AND THE SURVIVING FAMILY MEMBERS BROUGHT IT BACK HERE TO TEXAS WHERE THEY LIVE. I PURCHASED IT FROM THE ESTATE AND THE TITLE STATES -" THE ESTATE OF..." ON IT. CLEAR TEXAS TITLE IN HAND.AS FOR THE EL CAMINO ITSELF-IT IS A 283 CI 2 BARREL, 2 SPEED POWER GLIDE VEHICLE WHICH RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL DRIVETRAIN. THE ODOMETER READS 24,483.9 MILES WHICH I WAS TOLD WAS THE CORRECT MILEAGE AND BY LOOKING IT OVER IT APPEARS TO BE SO. THE ENGINE STARTS AND RUNS AND IDLES SMOOTHLY AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FINE. IT HAS POWER STEERING AND MANUAL DRUM BRAKES THAT WORK WELL. ORIGINAL AM RADIO THAT DOES NOT WORK BUT IS IN THE VEHICLE/ THERE ARE NO SPEAKERS IN IT CURRENTLY. CARPET, DOOR PANELS AND SEAT UPHOLSTERY WERE REPLACED DUE TO AGE. THE BODY IS RELATIVELY STRAIGHT WITH NO BIG DENTS-HAS LOTS OF LITTLE DINGS ALONG THE BODY LINE DUE TO USE ON THE FARM BUT NO MAJOR BATTLE DAMAGE. CHROME ON BUMPERS AND TRIM IS ALL OROGINAL AND MATCHES THE OVERALL APPEARANCE OF THE TRUCK. THE BED IS SOLID AND IS SCRATCHED UP WITH SURFACE RUST FROM ITEMS BEING PUT IN IT OVER THE YEARS. ONE TINY SPOT OF BODY FILLER AT LOWER EDGE OF BACK OF BED/CAB WHERE IT MEETS THE BED ON PASSENGER SIDE. TAIL GATE ALONG WITH BOTTOM SIDES OF DOORS ARE SOLID AND RUST FREE. THE ONLY RUST THRU ON THE VEHICLE IS A DIME SIZED HOLE ON THE HOOD THAT IS PICTURED WHERE IT APPEARS BIRD DROPPINGS CAUSED CORROSION TO THE PAINT AND SUBSEQUENT RUST TO FORM AND THERE ARE A FEW MINOR SPOTS AT THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD. THE PRIMER SPOTS ON THE SIDES OF THE QUARTER PANELS ARE WHERE ORIGINAL BED RAILS WERE REMOVED AND WELDED SHUT ALONG WITH A PRIMER PATCH ON THE BACK OF THE CAB FROM A CB ANTENNA HOLE THAT WAS REPAIRED. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE HAS SURFACE RUST ON ALL BARE METAL PARTS BUT IS SOLID. FLOOR PANS ARE NEAR PERFECT WITH NO RUST THRU AND FRAME IS SOLID. USUAL DROPS OF FLUIDS LEAKING FROM STEERING GEAR BOX AND TRANSMISSION PAN GASKET. AIR SHOCKS STILL WORK AND HOLD AIR. ALL GLASS IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT WINDSHILED DOES HAVE A FEW CHIPS AND ALSO A SLIGHT RUB FROM THE WIPER ARM ON PASSENGER SIDE. WHEELS AND TIRES ARE BRAND NEW AND HAVE LESS THAN THREE MILES ON THEM SINCE BEING REPLACED. WHEELS ARE AMERICAN RACING 15" TORQUE THRUSTS AND TIRES ARE COOPER COBRA RADIAL G/T 225/70/15. OVERALL A VERY SOLID RIDE AND HAS THE PERFECT PATINA. A DEPOSIT OF $1000 IS DUE WITHIN 48 HOURS FROM THE END OF THE LISTING AND FULL PAYMENT IN CASH WITHIN SEVEN DAYS IN CASH UNLESS OTHER ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE.
