Description:
1962 Chevrolet Corvair 700
This car is totally rust free, not even surface rust. All missing parts seen in pictures are included with the car (bumper, head light bezel, rear cowl, etc...). I will try to get out and get a picture of all the bins of parts this weekend unless a serious buyer requests it earlier. Was a factory AC car. Comes with evap and vent box, but both are in pretty bad shape (broken plastics); the condensor, compressor, and brackets are all missing.
Has a powerglide automatic that I was TOLD had been rebuilt, but the only sign that MIGHT be true is the new-ish looking torque converter.
The engine is there and has all the parts with 2 sets of heads. 1 set, I was told, had sticking valve guides, the other has staked valve seats. Ring gap is at .090" and rod bearing clearance is at .010", so the motor will need rebuild/machine work. But all the pieces parts are there except for the #2 rod cap. I've looked all through the bins and it's just not there. This car does not come with carbs. Another missing part when I bought it.
I bought this car as a pair with another that was intended as a parts car. I decided to keep the parts car because the interior was really nice in it and I'm doing enough mods that the rest of the condition doesn't bother me.
THIS car was a daily driver (registered and all) before it was torn down to deal with the low compression and sticking valve guides (so I was told). They tore it down as a learning project and bailed before finishing. I bought it with intention of doing a motor swap and full custom, but I have 5 projects right now and no reliable car. The other one is much closer to running, so I'm keeping that and selling this. Time to thin the herd to buy something I can commute with.
I've tried to be completely open and honest with this description. If you have more questions or want more detail, don't hesitate to ask. I will respond quickly and thoroughly. Want more pics? Just ask. I want you to fully understand what you're getting before you get it. Sale is final, as-is, and I want you to be happy when you get it home.
I am in a bind to get a reliable car, so I'm looking to push this quick. Title is clean and clear. Car will obviously have to be towed and I don't have the means to deliver. But I will do my best to work with the buyer to get it where it needs to go (at your expense though).
Thank you for looking and I hope to hear from you soon.
