From the bottom to the top everything has been carefully put together to maintain the true spirit of the stock car and yet bring the car to modern standards for drivability and feel. Along with making sure this beautiful car will stay beautiful for years to come.
Body:
All of the parts and paint were removed, then the body examined on the bare restored frame. Any work or repairs were taken care of including a new front clip made from the original GM molds and Jigs. Then the doors, hood and deck lid were all fit and finished to give seamless perfection between all the body panels. The paint is Basecoat Clearcoat in the original Sunfire Yellow. The body was then wet sanded and buffed to remove any orange peel. So this paint is very smooth and durable. It has a hard top which was treated to the same standards as the body. It has been finished inside and out with all new parts along with a dated back window. The roof has been stored to this day so it’s still new. Lizard skin was sprayed under the car body for heat repel. Then a Dynomat like product was installed on the inside of every panel including the doors, dash, fenders, deck lid and floor. This will cut down on any unwanted sounds or vibration along with the heat too. Any small parts holding the body together or making it work have been fully powder coated, greased and fit to last. A new front tinted windshield was added with new rubber and all stainless steel parts were restored and or polished to a true shine. The chrome parts were restored if possible to try and hold the originality.
Drivetrain:
The engine was rebuilt with all new bearings, pistons, rings and such. The cylinders were bored 30 over and a mild cam was added. An MSD electronic ignition was installed but hidden so as not to take away on visual but give the best performance. Also on the heads; rocker rollers were added during the heads restoration along with a custom made spacer for stock valve cover clearance. The 4 speed transmission was gone through and cleaned up. Then a new shifter linkage system was installed along with a new knob. The beautifully painted motor was then mated up to the perfectly clean transmission along with a high performance dual friction clutch system. The motor was then set down into the completely striped, restored and painted frame. All of the paints were the highest quality urethane paints available. Along with that, all of the rest of the hard parts were striped and powder coated then rebuilt with the best parts and urethane to replace the suspension rubber. All of the accessories for the motor such asalternator, water pump and such were all rebuilt not exchanged so as to keep the matching numbers theme and factory look. 4 wheel disk brakes were all rebuilt and installed with stainless steel lines and Dot 5 fluid pumped in. The fuel tank was restored, lined then installed with a stainless steel line running through the frame to the front. Then all synthetic fluids were added. The exhaust system is original but all parts from manifolds to side pipes were striped and jet coated to look like factory and stay that way even after usage. Finally, the amazing drive train and frame were set on the ground on a set of completely restored original knock off wheels with whitewall radials.
Interior:
A new wire harness was installed throughout the car and under the dash. The gauges were restored and calibrated to work properly. The original radio was installed in the dash along with a power antenna to the fender but a hidden audio system was installed in the back that can easily be removed in about 10 minutes if needed. The carpet was laid on top of a thick layer of juke pad for noise and heat. The seat frames were striped and painted and then new foam and leather covers were installed along with 3 point seat belts. New door panels, kick panels and such were installed along with new glove box and dash pads. Any rubber parts are new including the wing window units. The chrome parts were all replaced or restored. The original convertible top frame was refurbished to brand new then installed and a new concourse grade top was installed to the frame. Even the door jams are clean. As you can see, there is nothing on this car that hasn’t been touched.
