What we have here is the car I always dreamed of, nd believe me I have done a lot a dreaming about first gen Camaro’s, nd spent 15 years until I found it. I have built over 40 of these majestic examples of fine USA ingenuity and know a thing or two about nice one and of course the scary examples too. This one has a lot of history so let me get down to her automotive genealogy for you.

I live in Meridian Idaho, ear Boise, nd never expected to find Julia (my son named her) in my own backyard. I had just sold a pro touring car I had built and was surfing the web and POW there was a Camaro 6 miles from my home that needed a new owner. I made the call and took a quick Saturday morning drive to introduce myself to her, ulia that is.

I soon found out the car was originally bought here in Boise Idaho at Allen Chevrolet in 1969 and had spent nearly all of its life in our little valley. He was the second owner and had purchased it in 1987. The original owner had it in the area for several years and the moved to Arizona where the car sat in the garage for 14 years collecting only 27K miles. He then moved to Colorado for a short time and then back to Boise Idaho. He sold the car to owner number two at that time and it had well under 100k original miles. It was kept, overed, n the garage and only taken out on sunny days for the next 20 years. In 2005 dad and son decided it needed more horsepower than the original small block provided. They purchased a stroked 350 4 bolt main (AKA 383 Stroker) crate engine from Hammy’s Hot Rods in Phoenix. It was rated at nearly 500HP and filled with hot rod goodies and wrapped in enough chrome to make it look like it came from a jewelry store. They rebuilt the original numbers matching TH350 automatic transmission and added a shift kit. Thankfully he kept the original and I have it in my garage. Life was good and then the recession hit. They probably never would have sold it but in 2007 things were tough and toys were the first things to go so that is when the car hit ebay.

OK, t’s a sad story I know, ut did you read between the lines. This car has set in covered storage for most of its life. It still wears it’s original thick undercaoating from Allen Chevrolet in 1969. It has just over 100K original babied miles. The paint is nearly pristine and there is NO mud in there anywhere. It has never been in an accident. The Doors do not sag, T ALL, he gaps are perfect EVERYWHERE! There is NO trace of rust ANYWHERE! I even restored the complete interior and the inside floor pans look like they just rolled off the assembly line. No water has ever gotten to them. The body panels are laser strait and other than one small ding in the passengers front fender they are flawless. The doors shut like silk, he windows crank perfectly, he top opens and shuts like NEW. All the lights work, tc. etc. etc. Please come inspect it. You have never seen an original car this clean, promise. I was told the car was all original paint and I have nothing to refute that claim. It has no lines in the jambs, he door hinges look to be original paint, nd there were plenty of paint chips (professionally touched up when I bought it) to make me believe it. I have been everywhere on the car and it all looks right. The color has darkened a little over time and it’s a lighter red in the jambs but it is still Beautiful as I am sure you can see. All I can say is if it was re shot it was completely taken apart and done right. Also if it was it was done it was in the mid 1980’s and not very many people were restoring 1969 Camaro’s back then. The second owner never painted it so it would have to have been owner one. I guess the only way to know for sure would be to sand though it and see. You can if you want to but I don’t sand through paint that does not need it. My guess is its original.

OK, o I step into the picture. Some would say I should have been a purist and just made the car like it was in it’s youth. I have restored many Camaro’s to vintage status but this car lacked on important requirement for that treatment, ptions. It was not and RS or SS or Big Block or anything special. What it was was solid and in need of a few things to be an unmolested pro tour super beast. I love to get creative and go all out on a build but I just did not have the heart to paint a near perfect original skin. It did need a top, nterior (used to be red and I just like black better) LEATHER of course and in the original pattern and TMI built with their bolstered foam. A Mono stripe theme to tie it to the 18 and 20 inch retro wheels and lots of other goodies. No it is not original and no it’s not a trailer queen but what is it then. An Awesome blend of well preserved Detroit hard work and know how blended with all the Modern touches and style to make it bridge the generations of car lovers everywhere. Let me break it all down for you.

Body:

Near flawless and completely rust free. Original, early everything, including bumpers, oor edge gaurds, rill, tc and all in 9 out of 10 condition. Side Glass is all original and super nice with very minimal scratches. Lights all work, rim is excellent, o scratches in paint. Top is new canvas and works perfectly. Overall amazing condition and show’s VERY well.

Interior:

Was originally red and just not my color. New TMI interiors BOLSTERED foam and covers on original seat frames and covered in original style with top quality leather. Original console with Custom inset gauges, erfect condition. Original radio that does not work. Secret Audio system mounted under front dvers seat with I pod hookup in center console and USB under seat. Phoenix Gold amp and dual 8 inch subs for a good sound but not crazy bass. Diamond audio 6.5 inch speakers in the front doors. System sounds great but the car sounds so much better I usually just listen to that. Dash is new, oor panels new, arpet new, indlace new, edals new, eatbelts all original and retract and work like new, riginal rose wood dash, erfect. Interior needs nothing except a new toosh with a large wallet.

Drivetrain:

As I said I have the original numbers matching small block tht will go with the car. (yes it is a 12467 V8 code car that is a drop top) In the car is a crate engine from Hammy’s Hot Rods that winds up nearly 500hp and hurls it through the built TH350 and rearward out the Original 10 bolt with a Yukon positraction unit and a set of 336 gears (great for power and highway speeds) The stroker inhales through a reliable Edlebrock 750 carb lit by a Mallory ignition and exhales through a set of, ong tube, horley jet coated headers. The 2.75 inch tubing picks up its responsibilities throwing the fire through an X pipe, ufflers and exiting the custom Maginflow tips like a rabid dragon with a bad case of heartburn. Oh my goodness it sounds incredible. At idle it rumbles like a mean German Shepherd gaurding its favorite bone and when the go juice is mashed to the floor screams like a choir of angry angels hurling Satan himself back down to hell. OK that might be a little to visual but lets just say I have heard many exhaust notes in my day and this is a song that just won’t leave your head. Amazingly enough you can hear yourself think during normal driving. The whole unit keeps its cool via a 4 core Be Cool radiator, lectric fan and Be Cool aluminum shroud. Trust me you won’t be disappointed in this cars performance. Here is a Breakdown of what is inside the Motor:

Suspension:

The car rides on its original frame but that is where the old stuff stops. All the goodies are from CCP’s treat bag and the work o so well. Tubular Upper and lower control arms mesh with a 1 1/8 inch front and rear stabilizer bars and gas shocks for amazing handleing. The CCP quick ratio power steering box aids in the corner enhancing ride. The CCP Big brake Kit makes stopping so much better than the original binders it’s almost silly. Front end is all new, verything. No Disappointments here.

So that’s it, Julia is quite the car wouldn’t you say? Why would I ever get rid of her? I really don’t want too but I’m giving you a chance to woo her from me. She will never let you down. She would be anyone’s pride and joy. Show her off at the local car show, he will make you proud and bring home many trophies. Take her out on the town and wipe the smile off that stupid kid with the Honda tuner as you leave him dragging his lower lip behind him. Park her in your own personal museum and just look at her every day, our Choice! I have done them all and still can’t stop smiling. You can invest your hard earned cash in a lot of things but you can’t drive a gold coin and mutual funds are just not pretty to look at. Invest in something that appeals to all you senses.
