RECENTLY RESTORED STINGRAY, NUMBERS 350 V8, 4-SPEED, DUALS, BOTH TOPS, SLICK C2!
1970 Chevrolet Corvette
Lots of horsepower and lots of eyeball appeal, this 1970 Corvette roadster delivers. Packing a strong-running, numbers matching small block and a Muncie 4-speed, this is a Sting Ray that neatly balances style, performance, and desirability. Forget trailer queens, this is a car you won't be able to resist on the road.Restored using something close to Monza Red, there's just nothing like a bright red Sting Ray ragtop to attract attention. I don't care who you are or where you go, there's just no way you'll be missed in this car. The bodywork is quite straight, the paint is fresh, glossy, and deep, and it has that look of a Corvette that has been enjoyed, but never abused. The way the light plays over those voluptuous fenders in an unbroken curve is proof that someone invested a good amount of time getting everything straight, and the smooth, shiny finish is evidence of excellent care since the restoration was completed. The headlights pop up without hesitation and the rear deck fits well, making the top disappear seamlessly. Bright chrome bumpers add some jewelry, along with the new-for-1970 egg crate grills up front and on the front fenders, and big, rectangular exhaust tips strongly suggest that there's some serious blasting powder under the hood.Code 400 black vinyl bucket seat covers have been recently installed, and combined with 1970's newly contoured buckets that offered improved lateral support, they hold you in place better than before. The seats remain in excellent condition, giving the interior a welcoming, casual look that says, "Let's go for a ride!" Slide behind the wheel and your hand falls naturally to the 4-speed's big, chrome shifter, and as your eyes roam over the interior, you notice details like the upgraded AM/FM radio fiber-optic lamp monitoring system, and the spec plaque right there on the console. The gauges are in above-average condition, with the tach showing a correct 6000 RPM redline and all the auxiliary gauges work like they should. Overhead, there's a black convertible top that's so fresh the tag is still attached and a color-matched removable hardtop is included with the car.The engine is a very strong, numbers matching 350 cubic inch V8, and if the decal on the air cleaner is to be believed, it's rated at 370 horsepower. It is expertly rebuilt and dressed for show, and it looks like a performance engine bathed in Chevy Orange paint with finned valve covers and correct chrome air cleaner and ignition shielding. An aluminum intake and big Holley carburetor certainly help bolster the big horsepower claims and there are manual brakes, again indicative of an LT1 (the LT1 engine didn't make enough vacuum for power brakes). Underneath, it's quite clean, with satin black floors and a recent dual exhaust system and shock absorbers. For a correct look, it rolls on Rallys wearing 225/70/15 Falken performance radials with plenty of life left. For a Corvette that's built to drive, this bright red convertible hits a lot of high notes and offers an interesting pedigree.
