The Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe was only produced for two years, 1986 and 1987. The number built for 1987 were 6052, that was only 8% of total Monte Carlo production that year. The Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupes were built and offered for sale to the public to allow this unique sloped rear window glass and special rear spoiler to be used in NASCAR racing. This aerodynamic edge allowed Chevrolet to dominate NASCAR at the time.
