Description:

1964 Buick Riviera

This car was ordered directly from Buick by Dr Robert Lehman of Placerville, California in 1964. and remained there with his family until I bought it 11 years ago. It is an all-original (apart from the wheels), numbers-matching car, with the 425ci motor. It's finished in original 'Tawny Mist' with a 'Saddle' interior and factory A/C. I ran the car regularly until around 2013 when I switched it to Oregon Historic plates and limited mileage insurance and shifted it to Sunday mornings only. My plan was to have the motor rebuilt by Nielsen Automotive of Portland, who had done all the work on the car since I got it, but unfortunately Mike Nielsen retired early, and closed his business.
I carried on running the Riviera every couple of weeks til around 4 years ago, when I was concerned that the brakes might need attention and parked it under cover in my driveway. It was running when parked (otherwise I would have never got it up the drive!)For full disclosure, the motor ran, but was starting to foul a couple of the plugs every two or three hundred miles or so, hence the planned rebuild. Since parked, around 3 years ago, I haven't tried to turn the motor over, for fear of damaging it, however I did pull the plugs and add some Marvel Mystery Oil. but realistically, the car should be trailered.
It's a very straight, solid California car, with only minimal surface rust issues around the rear light clusters, where I think some paint had flaked off. Overall, the paint is in really good shape on the side panels, but starting to dull on the hood, roof and trunk, although it could maybe be buffed back. The glass is all good with no cracks and the stainless brightwork is intact and all in place.
The exterior chrome work on the front bumper is good, but the underside of the rear one is flaking in places. Both bumpers are dent free. The wheels are aftermarket chrome and showing their age, although replacements are cheap.
The interior is also original and in decent condition apart from the driver's seat, which will need some hog rings replaced, re-padded and recovered (all available from OPGI). The headlining should also be replaced, as although it's still in place, the stitching has gone and it would be easier and cheaper to get a new one. All the dials work, and light up, and the dash pad is good. The interior metal trim is all intact, although some of the chromed and painted pieces are pitted. The carpet is decent andthe original Radio works.
Along with the shots posted, if required I can also supply others showing the solid trunk floor, engine bay, and all the lower panels in detail, and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, or take any more shots you might want.
The car comes with the original Californian black plates, the owner's manual, and a folder containing paperwork and receipts dating back to the 70's.
NOTE - The main picture of the car, was taken during its last, but one, outing, all the rest are current.
Thanks for looking and bid with confidence in my 100% positive feedback.
