Item location: Omaha, Nebraska, United States
Description:
1982 Buick Riviera
First year for the re-designed Buick Riveria, of which GM only made 1642 Convertibles. This is an all original, unmolested car with just 70k actual miles (see below regarding AutoCheck). Interior is in great shape. Drives beautifully and delivers the smoothest ride you will find with top down fun.Never been in an accident. Never repainted or restored, yet seats have no rips or tears and carpet is perfect. Trunk is like new with original spare and original factory GM rubber trunk mat. Has rare option of AM/FM/Cassette/CB Radio and it works (will include some cassettes with sale) Power convertible top works. Top fabric is in great shape and comes with original tonnau cover and storage bag. Cruise works. Air ride works. Climate control works, but AC will need charging.
This car has a 305 V8, front wheel drive, 4 wheel disk brakes and all calipers are new. Engine runs strong and does not smoke. Transmission shifts well. Drivers rear window does not go down (could be a switch) and power antenna does not go up (have a replacement.) Has new Vogue tires (I still have the original Royal Seal tires, but they are no longer roadworthy).
Have lots of original documentation including the original window sticker with $26,257 list price. In 1982 this Buick Riveria Convertible was the most expensive car in GM's lineup (yes, including Cadillac). Selling at no reserve. Comes with 2 sets of keys with Riveria keyrings and the OEM unlock keys for the hubcaps. Buyer handles shipping.
BE ADVISED: AutoCheck is listing a NAM Odometer issue. I ran a CarFax as well and that report issued a NAM Odometer disrepancy for 3/2/2005 related to an address change. I spoke with the previous owner and he basically stopped driving the car in 1998. When he moved in 2005, the DMV cited a "suspicious" lack of mileage difference for the multi-year time span and tagged the title as possibly exceeding mechanical limits. So if it reads 70,082 miles now, the DMV is suggesting it is actually 170,082 miles, which clearly it cannot be or the interior seats and carpet would not be so good and there would be significant other issues rust, mechanical, engine smoking etc... Also, it would not have the ORIGINAL Uniroyal Seal tires on it, I'm talking about the wide whitewall tires from the GM factory in 1982 with no gold stripe. I still have the tires as proof along with a pic of them on the car (flat) 2 months ago. I examined the dash and it is all original (not replaced). We all know you can't argue with the DMV, especially for ancient history, so this Ripley's "believe it or not" is the best I can do for bidders.
