1968 Buick Skylark Custom, GS400 Trim
PLEASE Read thoroughly before asking questions. Frame on restoration last year. I have the pictures on request. (Can text them to you, 206, 909, 1853) This started as a 1968 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible only 8500 made Rare. I am the 3rd owner, the previous 2nd owner said it was purchased locally by a couple in 1968, always garaged. Mileage shows 37,293 could be the original or it may be 137,293. But it seems more like 37,293. Was not told because it was sold without the knowledge of the previous owner. It has a 350 Cubic inch original engine with a factory Rochester 4 barrel carburetor. 2 speed automatic. Regardless,,, The Buick runs and drives like 37,293. No oil burning or blue smoke. Runs on all grades of fuel just fine. The previous owner never finished the Buick secondary to illness. I purchased it for $10K in 2011 and have put over $17K in it then finally finished what you see here. Always garaged. Comes with a California car cover.
To enhance the feel, the visual stance, a very rare 1969 Buick GS 400 functional ram air hood was the final "Cool Factor"! Just finding the functional ram air hood was luck.
*I will summarize the rest best I can, please ask any questions*
2016-2017 It took a year to do correctly. No sags on the doors, perfect alignment of the trunk and hood, etc. Restored professionally by Jeff Stoneman, West Coast Collision, in Mountlake Terrace. Their custom "old school" hot rod expert, Steve, spent hours and hours block sanding, all panels, bumpers, fenders, hoods, were taken off and painted separately and then painstakingly put back on with proper alignment. The car is solid, the trunk was painted inside as well as the inside of the hood. Even this looks factory. All the door jabs were painted as well in a factory OEM look. New Bolts fasteners were used for fenders and doors. No sagging doors proper aligned.
The deeper majestic Blue Paint with a brilliant sheen in the sun is stunning. The lines of the car flowing with class along with Buick Muscle Car elegance. To reproduce an original would be $40,000-$60,000. And the nice part is everyone thinks you have a $50,000 car! Nice to have daily driver that has this wow factor but not to have the price tag as you saved a bunch of money an not worried.
I have been to a few meets and heard nothing but compliments of the right color for the interior, convertible top with originality in the day of the true muscle machines.
The dash is original, slightly dull. I was going to restore, repaint or replace it. But looks good without cracks.
Professionally rebuilt transmission with a shift kit installed by Village Transmission, and old school transmission shop. Refurbished wheel well trim, New brakes all around done by Shoreline Family Auto, another "Old School" auto shop.
New radiator and heater core, new factory Rochester 4 barrel, New distributor and wires, New Dual exhaust and mufflers, New Bilstein shocks with 2" Eibach lowering springs the stance is a wow factor,
New Radio with AM/FM MP3 player, New Antennae, New stainless steel window trim, New hood springs, B.F Goodrich Radial T/A's on Original Buick Rally wheels including a full size Buick Rally wheel spare with a new GF Goodrich Tire.
Sound deadening under carpet, New door locks and handles, New Convertible top with brand New Top Frame assembly, tight no sag.
New weather stripping all around, the rubber trim was replaced. New windshield, New Grill, New front fender wells, Front bumper rechromed, New GS console for your drinks, Comfortable electric adjust Bench seat restored, the arm rest folds down as you can see.
Period Sun Tachometer and Moon Gauges, the list goes on and on. I will probably regret selling the Buick but I have other projects to get to. This is a very nice driving car, smooth fast and comfortable, a muscle car that isn't a harsh ride. It has the same A body as most of the other GM cars of the era, GTO, Lemans, Chevelle, Cutlass, etc.
I put as many pics as eBay would allow. I can send more. Happy Bidding, will assist the shipper as I can but it is up to the new owner to figure the shipping costs and pick up.
I also have a build book with receipts and pictures that details the amount of work that went into this car. It is a bargain for what I am asking. Also comes with a period Sears Timing Light. Buick factory manual. Misc. parts.
Please keep in mind as with all cars of this era it is being sold in an "as is" condition. It has never let me down when I fire the Buick up with it's mellow low tone exhaust note, like music to the ears as she rumbles down the road and resonates with your soul.
It would be hard to find a better deal on a car that has gone through this amount of restoration for this price. This is a NO RESERVE auction. You may get lucky and get a great bargain for this wonderful Muscle Car!
Happy bidding, first bid at $18,995 will own the Buick or save your regret on missing an opportunity and Buy it Now!
