1973 Buick Riviera (Calif Born) with a 1972 Rebuilt Stage 1 Motor
1973 Buick Riviera
I purchasedthis car from California in 1995.I drove the car about 1000 miles in the last 24 years. It spent most of it's life in heatedstorage waiting its turn to be driven. I own two otherboattails. When I purchased the car it had a scratchalong the door and part of the rear quarter on the right side that was in primer. I had it repaired and painted so it was presentable till I would eventually paint the entire car or that was my plan. The rest of the car has it's original paint. Some years later Ipurchased a 1972 Riviera VIN indicated "GS", when I received the car the motor had no engine code or any identification on the motor, not knowing what I had, I disassembled the motor and learned itwas aStage 1 motor( big valves )The bottom end was in spec, but I replaced the timing chain, water pump, added a TA performance oil pump and cover. Had the heads cleaned upand replaced the valve seals. That motor is in the 1973 Riviera I am selling. I added the1972 heavy dutyradiator, new electronic distributor and had the72 "GS" carb rebuilt. New alternator, new smog pump, new Delco battery andrebuilt starter. You will notice that all the sensors and controls on top the engine are all new including the vacuum motor and temp. sensor assembly in the air cleaner. The motor has58 psi oil pressureat idle when cold and 26when hot. The compression in each cylinder is between 150 psi and 152. The vacuum reading on the motor is rock steady at 19+ this a great running motor. The brake booster and master cylinder has been replaced in the last couple years. The carpeton the floor and door panels and door sillsare new. The interior is very nice andratherrare, but there are a few seamsin the headliner that are separating.I have owned8 boattails over the last 27 yearsso I am familiar withthese cars. This car is a very niceexample of a 1973. Thereare several dents and door dings around the carwith the worst being on the trunkdeck. The onlyrust is under the trim where the rocker and wheel opening trimmeet in front of the wheel on the left side. Theglass throughoutis near perfect. The under side of the car is in excellent condition. The car currently has a high end ( in 1994)Clarion radio and cassette player that was in the car when I purchased it. I havea correctradio with 8 track stereo and dash panel that go with the car.The trunk is also like new, thecorrect Buick Riviera road wheels have been re-chromed a few years ago and the wheel centerslug nuts arenew. The tires are also in nice condition . The air conditioningsystem was recently converted to R134a and operates perfectly. There are 100,150 miles on the chassis.I have a copy of the original California title along with the build sheet that shows that the car has these options. Am-fm radio w/front and rear dual speakers, Califassembly line emission, roadability suspension package, air condition, cornering lights & speed alert, soft ray tinted glass, door guards, power seat 6 way,( driver side only), power windows, maintenance free energizer & cruise master, electric door door locks, low fuel indicator sunshade map light, chrome plated wheels. Brown metallic exterior paint, dark brown half vinyl top. Saddleinterior.Allthis boat tail needs is a nice paint job and a new exhaust system though the current exhaust still sounds pretty good.I do not knowhow to value this car, so I have decidedto sell itNO RESERVE.I wouldn't be ending the listing early claiming I have a local buyer, the wining bidder will get the car period. I encourage interestedparties to come and see the car. I am located in western WI, about 30 minutes east of St. Paul, MN. I willneed a $300.00 Pay-pal deposit within 24 hours and thebalance in cash or bank wire transferwithin5 daysof the end of the listing. If you have questions I can be reached715-425 9871. PS picture 16 is the area under the battery tray, picture 23 is of a oil pressure and vacuum gauge I noticed my vacuum gaugedoes'nt quite start a zero it is more like one.The car is idling with a hot motor andLucas 10-40 high zinc classic car oilin the crank case
