1969 Buick Electra 225

Open-air classics very seldom come any cooler than this 1969 Buick Electra 225 Convertible. This is a ride that will definitely turn heads as it passes by, and its level of authenticity is impressive. It's still powered by what is likely its original engine - and it's a sizable one at that - and still wears its original exterior colors. This is a classic that packs some substantial visual impact. Its combination of long wheelbase, distinctive... styling and open-air configuration would be enough to attract plenty of attention but the paint this Buick wears also presents unusually well. It's a nice rich shade of burgundy with just a slight metallic texture to it and when exposed to the sunlight it really comes alive. Take a closer look and you'll find no glaring blemishes to detract from the impression it makes and a detailing session will elevate things even further. The extensive array of chrome on display here is original, making its clean appearance all the more impressive - check out those slanting stretches of side trim as they run from front fender all the way back to the rear bumper, passing over a pair of sharp looking fender skirts as they do. When the weather calls for shelter, the black convertible top is in outright great condition - it seals nicely, raises into position without issue and even features a nice, clear, glass rear window. Inside the doors, the black vinyl interior wears its survivor status proudly - a half century of service without yet having had to venture inside an upholstery shop has left its mark on the front row of bench seating, though things are surprisingly clean in back. Nevertheless, this is still a solid driving environment and its high level of authenticity after all these years is impressive. Up front, the factory gauges beyond the steering wheel all still work as intended and the dash pad has yet to develop any splits - a welcome sight in a droptop from this era. On both sides, the door panels show none of the discoloration you'd expect and still cling tightly to their frames. This vintage cruiser left the factory with air conditioning on board and all the necessary components are still in place, but the system will need some attention to get back online. In back, the spacious trunk area is in good order and houses a neatly covered full size spare. Raise the hood and you'll be greeted by a 430 cubic inch V8 that at the very least is period appropriate, but is more likely the original engine, wearing its stock intake manifold and original 4-barrel Rochester carb on top that sits underneath a black air cleaner, with a pair of contrasting red valve covers at its sides. The powerplant is surrounded by fresh belts and hoses and is in great operating condition, firing up quickly and pulling with plenty of power as it teams with a smooth shifting 3-speed TH400 transmission while sending a rich note out of its aftermarket exhaust as it does so. Back in a time when leaf springs were the norm, this lengthy Buick rolled off the assembly line with springs in back for a smoother, quieter ride and it tracks nice and straight for a pleasing experience behind the wheel. Power steering makes this sizable convertible easy to maneuver, while power brakes bring low-effort stops as it cruises on its set of 15" factory wheels. Offering a rare level of originality to go along with its outstanding curb appeal, this 1969 Buick Electra 225 Convertible is a definite "must see". Call today!
