Description:
1964 Buick LeSabre Convertible 2-Door
FOR SALE IS ONE 1964 BUICK LESABRE CONVERTIBLETHIS IS A TRUE "BARN FIND" READ ON:
A GENTLEMAN IN HIS 80'S LIVED IN REDDING CALIFORNIA. HE HAD A PASSION FOR CARS, SO HE TOLD HIS WIFE THAT IN HIS RETIREMENT HE WANTED TO WORK ON A FEW CLASSICS. ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO, THIS GENTLEMAN PASSED AWAY. WHEN HE PASSED, HIS WIDOW AND SON IN LAW WENT TO THE SHOP, OPENED THE DOOR AND FOUND 30+ CLASSIC CARS. SOME TAKEN DOWN TO THE FRAME, AND SOME HARDLY TOUCHED. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE TITLES SO THEY SOLD WITH A BILL OF SALE AND THE GENTLEMAN'S DEATH CERTIFICATE IF THERE WAS ANY ISSUES.
ONE OF THESE CARS IS THIS: A 1964 BUICK LE SABRE CONVERTIBLE. I PURCHASED FROM THE ESTATE OF THE GENTLEMAN AND HAD IT TOWED TO PDX. I FOUND THAT THE LITTLE 300 V8 MOTOR WAS FROZEN AND MOST LIKELY THE TRANS WAS JUNK AS WELL. SINCE I AM INTO BUICK'S, I HAPPEN TO HAVE AN "EXTRA" 1964 BUICK 425 NAILHEAD (AN OPTION TO THIS CAR) THAT RAN PERFECT. I ALSO HAPPEN TO BE AN ASE MASTER TECHNICIAN WITH MY OWN AUTO REPAIR SHOP, SO I ALSO REBUILT A 1965 T-400 3 SPEED AUTOMATIC TO PUT INTO HER. (1964 BUICK TRANS HAVE NO 2ND GEAR HOLD ARE ARE ONE YEAR ONLY IN PARTS)
SO, I CUT OUT THE MOTOR MOUNTS FOR THE LITTLE 300 V8 AND INSTALLED THE 425 NAILHEAD AND T-400. BUT IT GOES ON.... I ALSO HAPPEN TO HAVE A 3:42 POSITRACTION (DROP OUT STYLE) THAT ALSO DIRECTLY BOLTS IN. THE DRIVE LINE IS COMPLETELY REBUILT WITH NEW U-JOINTS AND CENTER SUPPORT WITH BEARING. I ALSO BUILT A DUAL EXHAUST FOR IT AND REPLACED ALL BRAKE PARTS. THAT INCLUDES SHOES, CYLINDERS, LINES, RUBBER LINES MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS, I ALSO HAD BRAND NEW WHITE WALL TIRES INSTALLED. (NO-NOT COKER JUNK)
I ALSO CLEANED AND DETAILED THE FLOORS WITH POR-15. THE FLOORS HAD NO RUST ON THEM, BUT AS A PREVENTATIVE I COVERED THE FLOOR ANYWAYS. (I DON'T LIKE THE TAR PAPER CRAP) I THEN HAD THE CONVERTIBLE TOP INSTALLED WITH NEW FABRIC, BOOT AND ALL NEW CABLES AS WELL. I INSTALLED A NEW PUMP AND NEW RAMS AND LINES FOR THE HYDRAULICS. THE TOP GOES UP FANTASTIC AND IS REALLY COOL TO SEE AN OLD SCHOOL VEHICLE WORK AGAIN. AT THAT TIME, I ALSO INSTALLED A NEW FRONT WINDSHIELD AND RUBBER.
ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, I HAD AN EMPLOYEE AT A LOCAL UPHOLSTERY SHOP REDO THE ENTIRE INTERIOR TO THE CAR. I GAVE HER THE GO AHEAD TO DO HER WORK AND SHE DID THE INTERIOR LIKE SHE KNEW IT WOULD BE, GREAT! SHE REBUILT THE SEATS WITH NEW SPRINGS, USED HEAVIER FOAM FOR THE SEAT SIDES AND MADE NEW DOOR PANELS, BACK PANELS AND MORE. THE WORK IS REALLY NICE!
I WAS LOOKING AT THE PAINT AND THOUGHT ABOUT PAINTING IT. BUT IN THIS DAY AND AGE- NO ONE WANTS ME TO PAINT IT! IT HAS THE ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED PAINT THAT HAS "WEATHERING" SO THE PRIMER COMES THROUGH. PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THAT IF I PAINT IT, THEN PEOPLE WOULD WONDER WHAT'S UNDER THE PAINT. BONDO? CHICKEN WIRE? (HA HA) SO I AM LEAVING IT ALONE AS IS. I THINK THAT IF SOMEONE WANTS TOO, THEY CAN BUFF AND POLISH THE PATINA AND IT WOULD LOOK AWESOME! PLUS THESE DAYS A PROFESSIONAL PAINT JOB IS TOO EXPENSIVE. SO INSTEAD OF PAYING AN OVERPRICED PAINT SHOP TO DO BODY AND PAINT, ITS BEST TO LEAVE AS IS! ALSO IF YOUR IN A PARKING LOT, YOU DON'T HAVE TO HIRE SECURITY TO BABY SIT THE CAR FROM GROCERY CARTS AND PEOPLE.
SO, IN THE PROCESS OF ALL OF THIS, MY WIFE HAS BEEN ON MY BACK SINCE IT'S BEEN 3 1/2 YEARS TO GET THE CAR TO THIS STAGE. SHE IS READY TO SELL, AND I BELIEVE THE CAR IS READY TOO. IT'S A GREAT RUNNER, AND DRIVE REALLY NICE. IT'S SAFE AND COMFORTABLE. PLUS, I DON'T HAVE A GARAGE FOR IT AND I DON'T WANT IT OUTSIDE DURING THE WINTER. I HAVE A BLOWN 62' BUICK WILDCAT FOR THE GARAGE.
SINCE THE CAR CAME FROM CALIFORNIA, IT HAD NO PLATES WHEN I GOT IT. SO I DID A DMV SEARCH THROUGH CALIFORNIA AND THEY HAVE EXPUNGED ALL RECORDS OF ANY VEHICLE OVER 25 YEARS OLD AN NOT REGISTERED FOR THAT LONG SO IT DOESN'T SHOW ON THE DMV RECORDS. SO I CONTACTED OREGON AND THEY STATED THAT I COULD DO A LIEN SALE OF THE VEHICLE, GET PROPER DATED LICENSE PLATES FOR THAT YEAR AND THEY WOULD TITLE IT IN OREGON. SO THAT'S WHAT I DID. 3 YEARS AGO, I DID A LIEN AUCTION AT MY SHOP. AT THAT TIME I HAD $12000 INTO IT WITH PARTS AND LABOR. SINCE NO ONE WANTED TO PAY THE BILL TO GET IT, I KEPT AND NOW THE CAR IS BASICALLY MINE TO DO WHAT I WANT WITH. I FOUND TRUE OREGON MATCHING 1964 PLATES WITH 1964 STICKERS ON THEM ($250) AND I HAVE THE LIEN PAPERS. SO THAT IS HOW IT WILL BE SOLD.
TO GET TITLED, VEHICLE MUST BE TAKEN TO DMV AND A VIN INSPECTION OCCUR. THEN THE LIEN PAPERS AND THE PLATES MUST BE SHOWN TO THE DMV EMPLOYEE. THE LIEN PAPERS SHOW THAT WHOEVER HAS THE SIGNED PAPERS IS NOW THE OWNER. THE PLATES WILL BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED FOR THE BUICK AND THEN THEY WILL BE APPLIED TO THE CAR. THAT'S IT. I HAVE SOLD MANY VEHICLES THIS WAY SINCE I AM AN APPROVED AUTO REPAIR FACILITY AND HAVE THE PROPER PAPERWORK.
THIS CAR RUNS ABSOLUTELY SMOOTH. DRIVES SO SMOOTH IT BEATS ALL MY CARS I HAVE EVER HAD.IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND IS SO QUIET YOU WONT HEAR IT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS LOTS OF POWER AND LOTS OF NEW PARTS. I THINK IT NEEDS AN ALIGNMENT AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS OFF CENTER, BUT SINCE IT'S NOT REGISTERED AND PLATED LEGALLY, I DON'T WANT TO KEEP PAYING A TOW TRUCK DRIVER TO MOVE IT HERE THEN THERE.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE HER, PLEASE EMAIL ME. THE CAR IS NOT IN A HURRY TO SELL, SO PLEASE, NO LOW BALLER'S. I HAVE OVER THAT IN THIS CAR JUST TO MAKE THE CAR LOOK AND DRIVE THIS NICE! AND NO, I DON'T NEED SOMEONE TO HELP ME SELL HER EITHER!
UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT TAKE VISA, M/C, AMEX CHECK OR CASHIERS CHECK AS THIS IS A PERSONAL INVESTMENT TO KEEP A RARE AND NICE CAR ON THE ROAD AGAIN. A WIRE TRANSFER OF $$ IS THE BEST AND SAFEST WAY FOR BOTH OF US.
TO SCAMMERS:PLEASE DON'T ASK ME TO SEND YOU BACK AN OVER PAYMENT MADE TO ME VIA COMPANY OR PERSONAL CHECK THAT WAS SENT VIA NEXT DAY ARE CARRIER. (SCAM)
THANK YOU!
