1971 BMW 2002 Sedan White RWD Manual
1971 BMW 2002
Vehicle DetailsThanks for looking at my 1971 BMW 2002. I bought this car as a COVID project. The car quickly got out of hand as you can see all the new mechanicals. This car is perfect for someone with paint/bodywork/ and interior skills. The engine was built by Ireland Engineering and is estimated to have approximately 125 hp, significantly more than the stock one hundred or most old tired M10’s at 80hp. What started out as a project to clean the car up, replace the brakes, turned into a full on mechanical replacement. The engine is new, take a look at the build sheet, I have only 500 miles on the engine since installed. I finished the mechanicals in Northern California in 2021 and drove the car down to Southern California. Since then I have taken the car out just a few times. My plan was to get the paint and bodywork done and then the interior but, life gets in the way. So many new parts have been installed, I’ll try to list them below (yes I have receipts too).
New Built Engine
Lightweight flywheel
New Clutch
New wheel bearings all the way round
New transmission seals
New differential seals
New rebuilt Drive shaft
Rebuilt half shafts
New parking brake cables
New brake master cylinder
New clutch slave cylinder
New gear linkage bushings
New foot pedal sound damping
New engine/ cabin heat shield
New interior sound deadening
New seat belts
New indicator stalk
New Alternator
New Starter
New Brake booster
New Brake lines
New Front disc Brakes
New Rear drum brakes
New Strut Mounts
New Ceramic Downpipe
New stainless exhaust
All new bushings
New wheel well
New fuel tank
New electric fuel pump
New electronic distributor
New coil
New spark plugs
New spark plug cables
New interior light
All new repinned 12 connector
All new wiring (wired for Air conditioning but, I don’t have the parts)
New ignition that matches the new door handles (I have not installed the door handles because I think the car needs either new doors or the doors reskinned)
New windshield wipers and arms
New front left and right fenders
The undercoatining is Por15 in grey. I wanted this grey so I could see if the car had any leaks. Black hides too much.
What the car is missing:
Windshield wiper motor
Interior center console
What the car needs: PAINT, INTERIOR and BODYWORK
I am sure I am forgetting many small things, if you have questions I will answer them nightly, after work.
Thanks.
