Description:

1974 BMW 2002 ti

Sporty 1974 BMW 2002ti clone - low miles, summer daily driver, located in Minnesota but not from Minnesota - transported up to MN from New Mexico 10 years ago. Never seen snow or foul weather, garage kept for past 10 years. Insured by Haggerty. All best original parts preserved, but important drivability parts updated - has front sport seats from 1980's BMW 3-series car - the stitching matches the original rear bench seat. has Brand New blue carpet all around, with padding. Had solid floorpans and sheet metal. Car had been rust-proofed sometime in the past and it made all the difference. Car has 5-speed manual trans from a 1980's BMW 3-series car. In the time i have owned the car have put 18K miles on it - driving all around the Midwest - never any worries. I had head pulled and machined 8 years ago - new hardened valve seats installed and valve job - so runs perfect on normal 89oct unleaded gas. Purrs - I replaced entire exhaust system. I replaced the radiator, hoses and thermostat - runs nice and cool on hottest summer days. I replaced tires and bottlecap alloy wheels. I replaced sunroof seals. Car has new sound system, but not all installed yet - I left original vintage Blaupunkt radio in console - have new Kenwood receiver in glove box. Car has Vitoloni sport mirrors, but original drivers and passenger mirrors will go with it. Dash has three-cluster gauges but I have only connected temperature (thats all that I needed). All original gauges work correctly - Speedometer, tachometer, temp, fuel, warning lamps. Car got brand new front brake calipers, new metallic pads (in box - didnt need them). All windows work including side vent glass, and rear pop-outs. Heater Works! brand new fan installed (*&^% thing was $200 part + installation!). Car has Technic correct vintage sport steering wheel and dead pedal. Lights and turn signals all work correctly. Car has front Turbo air dam and rear deck spoiler - both in Great condition. Car is tight, corners flat and is blast to drive. Car has limited slip rear differential and extra support on drive shaft. Car had great looking rear sheet metal including trunk - has full side spare w bottlecap alloy wheel... rebuilt rear trunk floor panels. All original glass!!! All badging came on the car. I call this a 2002ti clone because my research shows the ti did not sell in North America... this car came with Ice King A/C in console. I removed it - kept it all in a tub. All left over parts go with the car in case someone else wants them reinstalled. See pictures for details. I'm 'selling' the car - it's my job to show off its best qualities, but not hide the flaws. I posted HD photos for a reason - any shortcomings are in the paint finish and original parts. You can zoom in and see everything. I've taken good care of the car and drive it without worries. I have driven it from Minneapolis to Chicago at least 4 times during the past 8 summers... never a problem... always an attention-getter. I am only selling because I have another newer e28 series I am beginning to restore. It's time for someone who loves and always wanted a dependable 2002 to get this and continue. Car exterior is rare Fijord Blau Metallic - not the run of the mill Black, White, or Silver always found on these cars. Interior is cutest 1974 two-tone black/blue - the best time-capsule kind of style.
I can be reached for questions. I keep RECEIPTS for everything I bought and any and all services I had performed - no BS about no receipts. I have tons of photos of this initial restoration - so great history to go with the car... but keep in mind, I worked hard to preserve as much original equipment as possible. I have tons of books and literature about 2002 series that go with the car as part of the sale. If you need help with transportation, I restore a car every year, I have several services that have done great work for me and I am happy to help arrange transport anywhere in the U.S. Expect a cost of about $800 to reach the west coast, less to reach the east coast. (I paid that recently for my new E28 BMW)

I will continue to add to this throughout the auction and to answer questions.
If you have always wanted one of these, but wanted one from a true BMW enthusiast - this is the car you want. I have owned/restored (8) classic BMWs now... each one has been a treat. I will be sad to let this puppy go, but happy to have it in the hands of someone that will drive it more than I have this year...
Cheers
