1973 BMW 2002; original paint, sunroof, 5 speed survivor, 'good bones'

This is a 1973 BMW 2002, - the LAST YEAR of the 'round tail-light 2002 models. The price is $14,500 or best offer.

It has been owned since approximately 2004 or so. It also has been garage kept, and living in the San Francisco bay area. It has a 5 speed Getrag transmission, Factory Sunroof- that still works fine, and is in fair condition- cosmetically. The Majority, if not all, of the car is original paint on this survivor, aside from the minimal rust, it is an 'honest car'.

This 1973 BMW 2002 was purchased from a retired BMW Mechanic in the Marin-Sausalito area, that stated he was the 2nd owner, and had rebuilt the engine for his girlfriend, prior to selling it. There is an estimated 80k or more on the complete rebuild, but no supporting documents. The mileage is reading 84,860, (and will increase when driven, as the odometer works fine), so we suspect the more accurate mileage is 184,860, thinking that the odometer has flipped over at least once.

The BMW 2002 has not been painted. There are some dents at the front leading edge below the hood, where the center grilles meet, at the nose of the BMW, and at the driver fender, & driver door. The door looks like it was replaced, due to the paint tone. This was the condition of the car, when the prior owner had it. However, all the doors, windows, sunroof, and trunk all function fine, and the car locks up tight. All the lights, blinkers, wipers, horn, the even BLOWER FAN work fine. Everything is working.

The BMW is completely drive-able, as here is what repairs that have recently been done the last 8 months;

Here are the current updates;

1; BRAKES; front and rear brake hoses replaced.

2; BRAKES; rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders replaced.

3; GAS TANK REMOVED, drained, boiled out, sealed.

4; CARBURETOR (2bbl) blown out, cleaned, adjusted to drive-ability

5; TIMING; reset, replaced ignition cap and rotor

6; COOLANT; drained, radiator flushed, and new coolant added

7; NEW BATTERY INSTALLED

The BMW 2002 mated to a 5 speed Transmission, with Factory Sunroof, runs, drives very strong, and can now be a Daily Driver or restoration vehicle, depending on what you prefer. This is not a show car by any means, but more-so a 45yr old Vintage piece of History, and should be recognized as such, with its age, wear and tear of age by the elements on this vehicle.
