Contact | Website | Ebay Feedback This is a gorgeous single family owner 1973 Bmw 2002 tii with a factory sunroof-100% rust free California car since new.This particular car was produced in mid year 1973. From Jan to August 1973, production was a very low 1302 units. Cars produced earlier did not have the more sophisticated "3 bowl combustion chamber, while later 1974 tii cars had less horsepower and more weight due to larger bumpers and other mandated items. This leaves the 1973 tii as the acknowledged "peak year" car. In this writer's personal long term experience, there is a definite 10-20 hp advantage in the 1973 specific cars.
The tii has 105,230 original and well maintained miles. It starts right up and runs extremely well.The car does not leak, smoke, or make any unusual noises. The engine is super tight/responsive and runs like a top. The entire drive-train is solid, it drives like a tii is supposed to. The brakes stop the car on a dime without any swerving or lurching. The steering and suspension are superb. The car handles the road unbelievably well. It is a very impressive car to drive to say the least. All light, turn signal and wipers function correctly.The car came from the family of the original owner and was stored indoors for the past several years until it was recently uncovered.
Recent service performed by a BMW 2002 specialty shop includes:-New injection pump-Fuel regulator-New fuel injection line set-Fuel sending unit-Fuel pump-Coolant temp sensor-Driveshaft bushing-Lots of new relays to replace the originals-Bosch ignition coil-New belts/hoses-New center link-Complete tune up (wires, caps and rotor)-Refurbished original radiator to the car. Cleaned, pressuretested and re-installed.-Oil/filter change-All fluids serviced and changed-New battery-New Bosch wipers-All exposed wires have been protected with loom. Everything looks nice and neat.
The previous owner wanted everything up to par for the next owner/operator and went to town spending approx $7,500.
Cosmetically the car looks amazing! The paint finish has a lustrous shine with few imperfections. There is no evidence of accident damage in nose or tail area (see pics) or anywhere else for that matter. Perfectly 100% rust free solid body and floors. Every panel, door, hood and trunk are all original to the car. All gaps and panel fitment are correct.
-Original blue plate California car which verifies it's registration history in the Golden state since new-Nice original chrome, trim and accesorries-Beautiful engine compartment with well sorted belts, hoses and accesories, very tidy!!!
The interior is very nice and I give it a solid 8. All the interior lights, instruments, radio, and gauges work properly. The seats, carpeting, door panels, visors, and headliner are in above average condition. Rubber trim/seals, weatherstripping and accessories are all up to par. The dash has some typical cracks and the original headliner does have some slight discoloration. All of the glass is in great shape, windows roll up and down easily and everything else is crisp and clean. The clock does not work. Nice period wooden shift knob.
After 44 years, it is very hard to find a highly desirable tii that has not been taken apart, abused or completely restored. This is a smoke free driver quality car that has been garage kept and is turn key. If you are looking for an exceptional original California tii this is the car for you. The lucky owner will be impressed with the overall outstanding mechanical and cosmetic condition.
