Description:

1940 Austin Austin 8 2dr Saloon Saloon

Last licensed in 1962. Garage kept for 55 plus yrs. Extremely RARE! Engine was partially dismantled in 1962. Engine is free. Austin 8 Register says there are only about 60 left on earth, vast majority being right-hand drive, and vast majority are 4dr sedans, with a few tourings. Only one other left-hand drive with 16" solid wheels, is known to exist! If you're looking to build the ultimate one-of-a-kind street rod, here's your chance!!!! Body is EXTREMELY SOLID, needing onlyvery minor floor rust repair. Trunk floor and tool area are an easy fix too. You're probably going to"tub" the rear anyway!Car is probably 98% complete, missing air-cleaner, and needing new trunk handle. Window rubber, handles etc. are availablefrom Austrailian vendors. I'll provide info to successful bidder. All glass is included.I was thinking of installing Buick Grand National running gear, as these cars were known as "Baby Buicks"! Or a blown small or big block? Or Turbo Mitsubishi 4cyl? Or take it apart, and make molds for new fiberglass bodies (They'd sell like hotcakes!). Seats are solid, but require re-upholstery, as the car is nearly 80 yrs. old. Door panels are there for patterns. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BUILD THE RAREST OF THE RARE STREED ROD.....HERE IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY!!! Sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty except as to title. A $1000 non-refundable deposit is due 24 hrs. after sale end. Shipping is at Buyers expense!
