Description:

1971 Austin America

Austin America in good running condition. Drivable, but has no rear brakes because of bad master cylinder. Shifts and steers good too. 1300 (1275) cc engine rated 58bhp. Most Americas have the automatic transmission, which was "standard", but this one has the "optional" 4-speed manual. New tires and battery. Good glass. The front floor pans are gone/rusted away. Rust in the trunk floor and rockers. She needs several electrical repairs ... headlights ... signals ... wipers ... horn ... blower ... etc. These were only imported '68-71. I like the "Rally" look, so I put a few decals on her (easy to remove). The most unique feature of these cars .... suspension is not "springs" or "Hydraulics", but pressurized WATER !!! Want to lower the car ? Just press 2 schrader valves and let some water out. Raise the car ? Pump water in the same 2 valves. Original hubcaps included. Also 2 Service Manuals included by Autobooks and AutoExpress. Again ... not safely roadworthy as-is.
