1984 Alfa Romeo GTV Lusso

1984 Alfa Romeo GTV6 3 liter V6 12V, Platinum Transaxle Limited Slip Differential, Chris Snowden Racing suspension, Beard Suspension Seats and Tanaka 5 Point Harnesses! The Alfa Owner magazine’s December 2023 issue features the GTV6 on the cover and an article! This GTV6 is perfect for Club Rallys, Time Trials, Autocross and just as a driver! This is the Lusso model which includes the sunroof (photo) with headliner in excellent condition.
I have owned this GTV6 29 months since purchasing from The Sports Purpose Garage (photos) where the majority of these high performance modifications were done in 2021. My sale is necessitated by a torn left meniscus in Milan, Italy this past July and my recovery is slow. This GTV6 has been amazing for me.The prior owner before SPG, had some of the original mechanical components including the powertrain replaced by The Naskos Alfa Performance of Portland, Oregon about 6 years ago. Naskos installed anAlfa 164S 3.0 liter 12 valve low mileage engine (photos) with a Milano/75 Platinum LSD transaxle (photos)! A 164S weighs 3439 lb. compared to this GTV6 weighing 2572 lb. (photo). That's 867 lb. less than that car and this GTV6 has that car's 200 HP. The high horsepower to low weight ratio of 50% front 50% rear balance makes for an awesome performance car.
This GTV6 was professionally painted Metallic Black in Oregon to complement the OEM Nero. This color is beautiful metallic flake shimmering in the light (photos)! The Black Recaro Bucket seats were installed by the 2nd owner (photo). From Auto Check; the GTV6 had spent itsentire history in Oregon until about 84K miles when sold by the 2nd owner to SPG. The score max was 79 and this GTV6 scores a 77! The Administrator of the GTV6 Registry verified this part of the car'shistory in an email to me included in sale. Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson promotes The GTV6s as a Performance Car must drive and really appreciates his GTV6 in his personal stable of cars (photo).
The Sports Purpose Garage of California purchased this GTV6 from the 2nd owner in Oregon about three years ago. At SPG’s vintage auto high performance shop, this GTV6 became a personal project with no expense spared. SPG found expertise at the nearby Alfa Parts Exchange. There Larry Dickman, Jr. upgraded the 4.10 Platinum Transaxle with added clutches, a 40% lock, drilled and lightened the gears, new synchros, roller 5th and the flywheel shaved (photos). SPG installed a new ATE clutch master and slave cylinder. SPG intended this GTV6 to be able to compete in the NorCal "Mining Road" Club Rallies.
To accomplish their mission, SPG purchased and installed from British Chris Snowden Racing the complete racing suspension parts package of:
4 Koni Sports adjustable shocks, 350# rear springs on adjustable perches, Autodelta adjustable Torsion Beam, adjustable DeDion Link and DeDion pivot (photos). Also the front and rear factory sway bars were removed and replaced with an adjustable front sway bar. Completed with the 115 front arms (photo). Most importantly, CSR front brake calipers, 4 new rotors including the Porterfield R4S pads were installed. These racing brakes are superb (photos).
SPG upgraded to four gold powder coated Tecnomagnesio 16 x 7 inch wheels with high performance Falken Azenis RT660s (photos). SPG added an Andretti Edition ducktail rear spoiler and vented hood insert (photos).
The SPG designed a completely custom performance stainless steel Tig welded 3 inch exhaust from the Schankle headers (photos) to the Magnaflow muffler. This GTV6 has been professionally lightened by SPG to 2572 lb. racing weight by removing the AC and Heater components, the Center Console, replacing the rear quarter windows and rear hatch glass with Plazit Polygal plastic (photos) and replacing the gas tank with a lightened Alfetta one. I installed the ultra lite front Beard Suspension adjustable seats with 5 point Tanaka harnesses (photos). The OEM rear 5 glass sections and the excellent condition Recaro buckets and rear seats (photos) come with this GTV6.
The added pair of Vintage Bosch lights give the car The European Look (photos)! I moved the front bumper for these to clear the front grill. SPG upgraded to LED headlights, taillights and turn signals (photos). This GTV6's instrument cluster was upgraded by SPG to Speed Hut gauges inside the OEM housings (photos). The replacement Platinum LSD transaxle required Speedometer calibration. This was a challenge which SPG solved by converting to the GPS speedometer that has 2174 miles (photo). My NM title has the updated GPS mileage from the BOS (photo). I make the buyer aware there’s a current Credit Union lien. SPG did more modern upgrades to the electrical wiring.
This GTV6 has only been sparingly driven during my ownership to Club Car Shows and out-of-town events towed by trailer. I have not raced this GTV6. I keep this GTV6 garaged and keep up on all preventative maintenance. Alfadoc has done the annual inspections. I have all receipts for his work, ones performed elsewhere and by me.Alfadoc certified this GTV6 for the Time Trials at the past year’s AROC Convention in North Carolina.
Please be assured you'll see this GTV6 does not have any rust and the body is solid without repairs (photos). The SPG chose this GTV6 as they had verified it had a solid rust free body. This GTV6 has only been an Oregon, California and New Mexico car. The only blemishes are very minor front underside scraps lower than the front bumper, air dam, tow hooks and bottom subframe from a low curb. The 15" silver O.Z. wheel as the spare (photo) are the wheels that hit the low curb. I include the O.Z. four 15" rims with the car. The two front rims were refurbished by a local professional shop. A tire store with vintage car specifications performed a four wheel alignment.
The Auto Check in this description has Oregon then Montana. I purchased this GTV6 in North Carolina. I have the Bill of Sale (photo). SPG is based in Livermore, CA. and Wake Forest, NC. The 3rd owner moved this GTV6 to NC. in August 2021 to sell. Their LLC is in Montana as some cars are non-smog equipped vintage high performance vehicles, especially this GTV6 that could not be registered in CA. Fortune had it that I was in North Carolina at the time when this GTV6 came up for sale. I trailed this GTV6 to NM.
