1967 California Road Runner Camper. This is the walk thru model. I bought this van from the same owners since 1981, they were the second owners . They purchased the van on December 3, 1981 with 51,000 original miles on it (I have the bill of sale). The van now has a total of 83,958 original mileswhichis fully documented buy themeticulous repair records that came with the van. This is the true definition of a barn find survivor. The van has meticulous records and maintenanceand repair historyfrom 1981 to 1995 when it was parked in a garage for over 20 years ( I have a stack of records/repair receipts) as well as the original Washington license plates, factory manuals and books. The van was parked in 1995 due to the brake system needing replacement. The van never left the garage and was stored for thelast 20 years. The vanhas not seen the light of day in till 2016 when I purchased it. Right before its long hibernation/storage the motor was completely rebuilt. The rebuilt motor has less than 6000 miles on it. I have the receipt for that as well. I just invested over $5,000 into going through the van from top to bottom. I did all repairsnecessary for being off the road and not driven for 20+ years . The van now runs and drives excellent. The van is 99% rust free. The only area of (minor) corrosion is in the passenger side battery tray. The van is an original time capsule. The van has had only one repaint to its factory original color. The interior is original and in excellent condition. Perfect wood headliner. The interior cabinets are excellent as seen in the pictures. The rear seat/ z bed, jump seat and rear cushion all have new upholstery. The inside of the van is in remarkable condition. Not very many barn find survivors are left any more making this a rare and unique find....
Motor- Brand new rebuild with less than 6000 miles. I do have thereceiptfor the rebuiltmotor that comes with the van. A recent compression check was done. 150 psi on all four cylinders and 60 lbs. of oil pressure. The following was all just done; New clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing. Rebuilt original Solex carb. Quite pack muffler.Valve adjustment. New oil cooler, dog house shroud, engine tins, heat tubes, distributor cap, wires, plugs, fresh complete tune up, electronic ignition upgrade, new fuel and vac lines, Interstate battery, battery cables & ends, belt. The gas tank was flushed. The engine bay is clean and tidy as seen in the pictures. The motor runs like a watch and fires right up instantly as soon as the key is turned.
Transmission- I just had the transmission serviced. All new gear oil in the transmission and reduction boxes. The transmission shifts well through all gears with no grinding or popping out of gear. Brand new German axle boots.
Brakes- I just had the complete brake system replaced and rebuilt. The repairs include; New master cylinder, wheel cylinders front and rear, brake shoes front and rear, brake lines front and rear, front wheel bearings, new brake fluid reservoir and grommets, complete brake fluid flush, new brake fluid.
Paint and Body-This van has been in the Pacific North West since new (Washington). The van has only had one repaint in its original color (Pearl White L87). The bus literally is 99% rust free. Floors, inner and outer rockers, out riggers, jack points, gutters, doglegs ect. are all rust free. The only area of rust to be found is a small area on the battery tray. The van was repainted in the early 90's. There is no bubbling or blistering in the paint anywhere. This is a no stories bus. The under carriage is solid and dry and free of any rust. The van has never been in a serious accident, the nose is excellent. This is not a restored bus. This is a survivor in exceptional original condition.
Interior- The interior is in exceptional original condition. The front door panels are new and made of birch wood, so they will not warp like the cheap stock fiber board door panels. New old stock front kick panels. The dash is in excellent condition. I have ordered a radio block off plate which will be installed. The interior wood paneling in in excellent condition. The wood headliner is perfect. I repainted the ice box fridge door and replicated the original yellow faded to orange color scheme. New upholstery on the jump seat, rear seat / Z-bed, and rear cushion. All cabinets are close to perfect, The original camping light works as well as all electrical including the dash lights. The fuel gauge is a bit finicky at times. The original steering wheel is in good condition. Nice curtains as well as the curtain for the front wind shield. The interior is spotless clean and smells good.
Other- All of the glass is original with the exception of 3 jalousie window sections I replaced. I do have the originals. The front windshields are even original. The Michelin tires have 95% tread. I have meticulous repair and maintenance records from 1981 to 1995.
A true original survivor barn find... 83,958 original documented miles. Bringing this van back to life was a very enjoyableexperiencefor me. Countless hours went into thepreservation of the bus. This was a labor of love. Clean Washington title in hand. Every dash, dome. andcamping light works perfect. This camper is ready for camping / traveling adventurers. All mechanical issues have been addressed down to the smallest detail...
