1988 Pontiac Fiero MERA

This 1988 Pontiac Fiero MERA No. 8147 is quite rare with only 247 examples built by Corporate Concepts, Capac Mi.The cars were given approval by Pontiac to enjoy a full factory warranty and were permitted to be sold by Pontiac dealers as a new car.The car has had only 2 previous owners (May 1989 for 13 years and Nov 2001 for 15 years each). It was well maintained but has recently had the gas tank removed and cleaned, new fuel pump, new fuel sending unit, new fuel, oil and gas filters, new fuel injectors, new distributor cap, wires and plugs.New exhaust tips (Dickman) painted and baked with high temp paint. All fluids were changed including new brake and clutch fluid. The heater core and hoses were replaced. The rear louver was repainted.

This is a beautiful example that gets a lot of attention, folks videoing the car or taking pictures while driving down the highway.Even though it is not a Ferrari few folks know that it is even rarer than one and that is where the conversations and story goes.Ebay is listing real 308's at costs of 70k.

This 1988 MERA comes with two sets of rims. The 15 x 7 inch rims are replica aluminum rims specially cast by Cromodora of Italy for the MERA conversion, who at one time cast rims for Ferrari.Ebay currently has a set of 4 that are in need of painting selling for $1,600.These are currently on the vehicle fitted with 265 x 50 15'sThe second set of rims are 16 x 7 inch MOMO's by Ferarri. Both are in excellent condition.

An interesting story of the second owner picking up the vehicle in Texas to drive it to Virginia he was pulled over by the Texas Highway Patrol due to the tags indicating it was a Fiero but to them it was obviously a Ferrari. He spent quite some time ensuring them that it was a Fiero MERA.
