We all love rolling history, so no matter if you need a parade vehicle of just love a good story, this 1920 Traffic Truck is the best conversation piece you can get your hands on today.Build to be the farmer's friend, the Traffic Motor Truck Corporation of St. Louis advertised its pride in offering a vehicle that could haul 4,000 lbs while remaining hundreds of dollars less than their competitors. It might seem very basic, until you try to restore one. Amazingly most of the chassis was intact when this project was started, which is good because every single nut and bolt on this 96-year-old vehicle can be considered a vintage treasure. Of course the body was a different story. No lumber could serve nearly a century as a workhorse and look this good. The cab is really a small building, and it has been painstakingly re-created using white oak wood and the original factory drawings. The bed, supports, and rails have all been crafted out of the same sturdy lumber. While this one is a few generations too early for clearcoat paint, a light coat of varnish gives this one a high-gloss presentation.Open the door, and this is an instant reminder of its workman roots. It feels more like a workbench than a heavy-duty hauler. Traffic saved money by eliminating anything frivolous, right down to the speedometer. You get a bench seat, classic wood steering wheel, three pedals, three-speed manual gearshift, and a handbrake. Oh yes, the gas tank is your dashboard, and you'll say it with a cool little smile when others ask you that, too.Under the hood is a four-cylinder, 40 hp Continental motor. This is the heart of why Traffic Trucks were so dependable. Continental provided some of sturdiest engines to makers of farm equipment and trucks throughout the United States. They are so robust, that this is believed to be the original motor to this truck. The other good news is that since the Red Seal engine has been far more mass-produced than the Traffic Truck chassis, you have the benefit of having a unique vehicle that still has a larger and more available spare parts network. So yes, you're likely going to be the only person at any car show, parade, or even farmhouse with a Traffic Truck. But to have one looking this nice and remain this affordable, you know it's irresistible to be this remarkable. Call today!!!
