Vintage Zink Sports Racer Zink MK II-02

Built in the mid sixties by Zink specifically for a gentleman racer by the name of John Gordon we believe. A traditional type build for the mid sixties sports racer with a marvelous shape to the hand made fiberglass body. A Hewland gearbox with a Kent Ford motor Dry sump. Known to have run at Riverside and other tracks. We believe there were three known cars similar to this one called Petites. This car is a one off built specifically for this customer. It was not run past the 1960s to our knowledge. No log book exists as it would not have acquired one in later SCCA races in the 70s. SVRA SOVREN VARA HSR and other vintage associations will have no issue with this car as we do have the pictorial history and documented activity. A significant car that was well built and is now ready to vintage race after a very long slumber.

We have restored this race car to run. The tub was fully rebuilt and re-skinned in Aluminum. The suspension and steering gone through. The fiberglas body was extensively rebuilt and repaired. Then prepared and painted in a finish to mimic the original gel coat. Electrical rewired. Original brake calipers rebuilt and all new brake plumbing and master cylinders. Seats reupholstered. The fuel tank has been fully redone with a modern safety cell bladder inside the original fuel tank. Fully compliant and fresh. The windscreen and seal redone.

For the new owner will be left the choice of engine engine install and associated plumbing. We can manage this for you or you can finish out this very cool vintage race car to your liking. A Formula Ford motor would work nicely even with a wet sump a twin cam or something similar. The car originally ran a Lotus twin cam and an OSCA 850 twin cam. The dry sump tank is under the passenger seat and usable. Once it has weight in it the suspension will need to be set up ride heights set sway bar adjusted etc. The Kent block in the car is included in the sale. This will be a very quick well built race car with history and character.

In the vintage photos of the car you can see the four kidney Halibrand wheels. Extremely rare. These wheels are included in the sale. However they have been repaired through the years and we would really recommend they not be used for racing. We have supplied four VTO new rims and tires that would be perfectly suitable for safe racing and the original wheels can be preserved and are included.

The down bar for the roll hoop has not been installed as it must pass through the body work. It can easily be installed if you want it.

I am located on the West Coast USA. Feel free to call but keep in mind the time zone.
