Description:

1969 MG Other Roadster

One of only 4544 built 1968-69, nd one of just 1757 roadsters built in 1969.. It has missed out on the last 22 years of Sun, ind, ain snow, al, ear and tear. According to the previous owner, nbsp;It was sidelined back in 1993 by a fried fuel pump, nd then family and business obligations. I have enjoyed the finding and saving of this ca, ut find I no longer have the energy or dedication needed to go farther with it.It is in generally very good shape, t has been washed and waxed, ut buffing and polishing would easily take the paint to a much higher level. As you can see from the photo of the heritage certificate, t was optioned with O.D., ire wheels, eater, onneau cover, oldaway hood, nd Cigar lighter. the Tonneau cover is missing. It has the OEM rubber mat, hich are in excellent shape, ith the foam under them.
I had intended to start the engin, ut after cranking easily on the first no-ignition try, nbsp;(to build oil pressure before starting , the starter bendix stuck, nd so I stopped there. I took the cover off the fuel pump, and as the previous owner had indicated, t was bad, ne of the components of the solid state control having fried. The gas tank was removed and drained when the fuel pump failed, nd so it is ready to go. The odometer shows 20,xxx miles, ut even though the car appears that it is correct, t cannot be verified. The previous owner said the O.D. did not work, and indicated the reason was a missing detent ball and spring. ( I will pass on the previous owner's contact info to the successful bidder.)
The brakes and clutch might work buy just changing fluid and bleeding them, ut for safety will likely need more attention. Most of the accessories work, ights ( Hella H-4's ), ipers, tc. The top has no cracks, ips or loose stitchin, nd the windows are pretty clea, eeding only a light polish. Included in the sale are shop manuals and the September 2015 issue of the British magazine Classic and Sports Car ,which features the MGC and explains the modifications available to improve some of the so-called short comings found in the early road tests.
The worst items on the car are the hole in the passenger floorboard, atched in-period by tack-welding sheet metal over it, nd some slight bubbling on the bottom rear of the driver side front fender. Although the tires have plenty tread depth, hey are badly checked and cracked and therefore unsuitable for road use. The car has had one respray of above average quality, nd as those of you who were around then remember, he factory paint was cellulose, nd after a few year, ou just couldn't make it shine.
I have 5 new wire wheels (shown in the photo), hat would be available to the successful bidder for $ 1200. Replacement cost would be right at $ 2000.00 from Coker, ver $ 2500..00 from Moss.
Any and all questions are welcome, s is in-person inspection.
