1957 MG MGA
1957 MG, MGA in pearl blue and white
Up for auction is this very clean and beautiful slightly modified NAMGAR registered MGA.
Here is the history that I have on the car. The previous owner had this car ever since the 1960s. He began restoring the car and acquiring parts. This process went on through many years until because of health issues, he decided to sell the car in 2015. The car was in its final stage of restoration.
I have to say I have had many MGAs and this one is an extremely tight and solid car. There are so many new parts and interesting features that it will take a rather long list to completely describe the condition of this car. Please read through it, and ask any questions you may have.
Here is the list of work and parts:
The engine was completely rebuilt and has around 1500 miles on it.
Engine parts are as follows.
Piston set .20
Main bearing set .30
Rod bearing set .30
Thrust washer set
High performance cam.
Timing chain tensioner
Oil pump strainer
Stellite exhaust valves
Intake and exhaust bronze guides
Rocker arm bushings, adjusting screws, and shaft
Cam bearing kit
Unilte pointless distributor
Oil filter conversion to spin on filter
Complete gasket set
The block was honed and bored. The deck was blocked. The crankshaft, and rods were reconditioned. The crank and piston assembly were balanced. Install cam bearings, and hardened seats. The head was milled and ported. New clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing were installed.
Transmission, front shocks, and carbs were rebuilt by University Motors.
Frame and suspension were rebuilt with new bushings. The rear oil seal on the transmission has developed a leak. A drip pan is installed.
Body and frame are rust free, and solid
Fuel lines, pump, sending unit, tank, and hoses were all replaced. As listed the carbs were rebuilt, and the intake polished.
Wiring, voltage regulator, and lights were all new. Generator was gone over.
Dash is burled walnut. The car is equipped with a walnut Motilita steering wheel The gauges were sent out and serviced, but I have found that the water temp reads a little low, about 15 o 20 degrees. The tach also sticks on occasion.
All chrome is either new, or re-chromed. The windshield glass is new, the frame has been re-chromed. Acrylic wind deflectors, visors, and chromed mirrors are installed. The new grille is a sport mesh grill. The luggage rack is also new. There are stainless sill plates installed.
Master cylinder, brakes, lines, hoses, and emergency cable were all replaced.
Exhaust consist of a heat coated manifold, stainless pipes and muffler, as well as a stainless heat shield.
As you can see from the photos the body has some slight modifications. The hood scoop is functional and bolted on.The rear bumpers are from a Austin Healey Bug eye Sprite. The front racing valance is fiberglass and has a MGB air intake.
The interior is from Sports & Classics. It is a MGA leather Rally complete interior kit. Oyster Gray leather faced complete rally seats. Vinyl panels with dark blue vinyl piping. There is also an extra longEverflextonneau cover, and dark blue seat belts with the MG logo. There is also a package shelf under the dash.
The paint is a dark blue base coat with an off -white stripe. There was an intermediate blue frost pearl coat was applied over the blue, and pearl white over the stipes. Clear coat was then applied over the whole body. I have the paint and formula.
I know this a rather long description, but I feel the more information the better when purchasing a classic car.
This car is being sold as is with no warranty.
Please ask any questions other than what my reserve is. Thanks for checking out this auction.
