1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL1 Owner Car.Pristine Condition in and out #1 Investment Grade R107Signal Red (paint thickness .042-.045 no paint work)
This car is about the nicest 560SL I have ever seen! I purchased this car from the Estate of the original owner, a cardiologist from the North East. He purchased the car in the Spring of 1988 for his wife, who drove the car a few summers until the mid 1990's when she passed away.
The owner kept the car, tucked away in his climate controlled garage, and literally didn't drive it. It went to the Mercedes Dealer once a year for a oil change and a general checkup. It is amazing looking at the invoices to see the car used 50 miles a year!
The car is like a new car, quite amazing. Plastic still on the unused convertible top, hang tags still in place on interior pieces and plastic film still on some of the buttons!
I have the window sticker, invoices from day one, books, manuals, all 3 keys, stamped maintenance book, various photos of the cars over the years, etc.
I must admit this was one of the most difficult cars to purchase for me over the years. I think the effort was worth it.
Since I have had the car I sent it to one of my favorite Mercedes shops in the Country to have every inch of the car gone over. Nothing wrong with the car but a car that has been driven 50 miles a year for the past 25 years was bound to need some items attended to.
The work I had done to the car is purelypreventative, the car does not leak a drop of anything, but I want the car to be "no excuses" for someone that wants to hop in and. drive it like the "new" car it is.
Motor mounts (fluid filled and 30 years old)Subframe mounts (Rubber, 30 years old)Timing chainrails and guides (Plastic, 30 years old, major failure point in these 5.6's)Wiper Blades (30 years old)All O rings in A/C system and recharge (30 years old and rubber)Brake calipers and master cylinder rebuilt (Rubber parts are old)Valve Cover gaskets (Old and rubber)Fuel Injectors cleaned and flowedPirelli P6's replaced with Michelins (Like new but old)Mercedes Battery 3/18Shocks OEM Bosch...just old.
The car has a perfect dash, plastic still on some of the veneers, interior is just stunning!
I'm not sure what else to say, all the Cosmoline is still on the engine and undercarriage, VIN stickers on every panel.
Thesedon't come along often, my reason for selling...I cannotjustify putting miles on it.
I think this car is for someone a little more "well healed" than me. I'm liquidatingmuch of my collection to financeother business ventures.
I just sold my 280SL Pagoda and 250SE via eBay to a collector out of NY for over 6 figures. I have excellent feedback, a excellent reputation in the Mercedes community, and have only owned world class cars.
This car is in storage and available for pickup after April 10th.
Thanks for listening to my rambling, and if this caliber of SL is what you are looking for, there is none finer!
Payment incash in person, Cashiers Check, or wire transfer. I have had good luck selling some of my collection over seas, and this car is a 4/88 build date so I wanted to wait until now to sell it, because if you export it and it is 30 years old, it is my understanding that taxes are less expensive, especially on a high dollar SL.
