1971 Land Rover Other Deluxe

In my professional opinion, this 1971 Land-Rover represents the pinnacle of Land-Rover’s engineering prowess. The advent of the Series III, to my way of thinking, began the downturn of Land-Rover excellence, with numerous “improvements” of dubious merit. A copy of the original British gevernment release documentation reflects fewer than 7,000 miles when released, is available from our files.

This particular machine incorporates unique features virtually unseen in Land-Rovers here in the United States, chief among which, for example, are the almost-never-found factory dual anti-sway bars, giving this exceptional machineunbelievablyflat cornering. This is a superlative example of the best of the last of the “all-metal dash” models, and, astoundingly, fewer than 14,000 genuine, documented miles on the clock! Factory built Military specification with all the Ministry of Defense bells and whistles and innumerable, professionally-installed add ons including:Dual 12-volt dash-mounted power outlets for accessories and/or chargingbatteries, dual fuel tanks, military cluster gauge with mechanical oil temperature gauge, fuel level (measurableat either tank) and mechanical water temperature gauge, military oil cooler kit with eight–blade tropical fan with double belt drive, custom/factoryraised air intake, (period-correct item, not a modern knockoff,)military undercoating, military-spec engine,3/4 ton/1 ton chassis with raised, military spring shackles fitted to 1-ton positions,SALISBURY rear axle fitted with heavy-duty military half shafts (approximately 5,000 miles since new),strengthened military wings, center under-seat tool tray, special gearbox stay, and more!

Recent respray inside and out with dark green paint. Full-spec DeLuxe Safari roof fitted. All Genuine Land-Rover panel work.Fresh DeLuxe bonnet with sparetyredish.New Genuine Land-Rover boomerang door mirrors, all new seats for 12 persons, new three-point inertial safety harnesses [front outer seats], dual front fore-and-aft-adjustable deLuxe seats.Speedometer with trip reset (a rare appointment).New Genuine Land-Rover door trimming with map pockets in front doors, and Genuine Land-Rover floor mats throughout. Recent new SMITHS Genuine Land-Rover dual-circuit heater-defroster. Newly rebuilt, brilliant, quiet engine and gearbox. New Genuine Land-Rover/Zenith carburetter.Rear military bumperettes, Genuine Rover.Recently new fuel pump, geneator, distributor, voltage regulator, water pump, fuel pump, radiator, exhaust system, four Genuine Land-Rover side entry steps and much more.Astounding mechanicals throughout.

All four (4) Genuine Land-Rover side door tops are removable for tropical operation! This is an extremely rare option (Probably fewer than 5 Land-Rovers in America offer this option, if that many!). Both optional canvas top andside-hinged rear half doorare in stock and available for immediate conversion (not included with sale). Recently new GOODYEAR military-styleWrangler P235.85R16tires with near-perfect tread.New HANDYMAN/HI-LIFT 7,000-pound bumper jack, with special under-seat, lockable mount.New HELLA H4 quartz-halogen headlamps, vintage aircraft cockpit lamps over driver and passenger’s shoulders (with spot/flood, dimmer and infrared features),restored rear UK license number plate, rear, aluminum alloy UK country badge with raised letters, twin cloisonné Union Jack badges, one on each front side wing, heated front windscreens, and a new high-end battery are just some of the accessory details.A number of Land-Rover military and civilian trailers are also available directly from stock as are numerous accessories such as roof racks, gearbox skid plates, auxiliary heaters, extreme-temperature comfort accessories, brush bars, factory tool kits, winches, p.t.o. equipment, and so forth.

Documented updates, repairs, ongoing service and corrective actions undertaken per prior owner’s direction, totaling approximately $13,500.00.This exceptional machine is being offered by North America’s premiere restoration specialist, the recipient of 40+ international restoration awards, of which half are first place, best in class, Best in All Rover Classes, etc., (One of our finest restorations was featured in America’s only Land-Rover magazine, Land-Rover Lifestyle, in an article entitled “Six of America’s Best Land-Rovers.")
