1964 Ford Falcon

This California "Black Plate" 1964 Ford 2 door hardtop Falcon Futura was produced at the San Jose assembly plant on February 4th 1964. Delivered to Perry Ford in Santa Barbara, er original equipment included the in line six cylinder engine and two speed automatic transmission. Her original color was "A Code" Raven Black and she sported a black bucket seat interior. She remained in Southern California for over 50 years as a sporty, conomical, grocery getter" until purchased by the current owner in April 2014.
With a resto-mod vision in mind she was sent to the experts at Mustangs and Fast Fords in Santa Ana, alifornia for the transformation. Completed in May 2015 after a year of planning and flawless execution the result is a supercar, rapped in a period correct looking package that disguises all the modern day technology one could ask for. Content of the modification concentrated on tried and true, ullet proof, odern components with a view to maintain a period correct "Factory 427" theme and look. Original sheet metal was retained with the exception of the period correct Crites Teardrop fiberglass hood secured with billet steel hood pins.
Opening that hood reveals a DART 4 bolt main, troker small block displacing 427 cubic inches. The internals and externals of this engine reflect a no expense spared, est of the best, eliability focused build strategy that resulted in an estimated 550 horsepower and gobs of torque. Engine internals include a RPM International Forged Steel Crank, PM Forged Connecting Rods, CON Forged Aluminum Pistons, Comp Magnum roller cam with Gaterman hydraulic lifters. Topping this monster small block is a pair of AFR Renegade 58cc Aluminum heads with mild porting, ported Edelbrock RPM Air Gap high rise intake. Providing the "go juice" is a Holley 4150 Dual Feed 750 CFM Carb. Oil control is managed by a Milodon 7 quart rear sump oil pan and a Melling High Volume oil pump. Other notable names found within the engine build include ARP, loyes, el Pro, leveite, ngine Pro, nd Hastings. Exhaust exits through a set of custom made A1 Ceramic coated Headers dumping into a custom dual 2 1/2 inch, -piped exhaust system with Flowmaster Super 40 Delta Flow Mufflers. Spark and RPM control is supplied by MSD, istribution via a Pertronix Flame Thrower Billet Distributor and 9mm MSD Wires. This unique power plant transmits its horses through a Modern Driveline billet steel flywheel and a Tilton hydraulically controlled Superior Kevlar clutch covered by a Lakewood Quicktime bellhousing to a Tremec T56 Magnum Six Speed Transmission. The custom made, alanced driveshaft is connected to a nine inch Currie, ru Trak, 1 spline axel, .11 rear end. That's the GO!
Cooling is handled by a custom made Mattson's cross flow aluminum radiiator with dual thermostat controlled Spal high performance fans. A black anodized aluminum coolant overflow can is provided by Chase Bays.
The excellent handling is furnished by a complete Total Cost Involved (TCI) Engineering independent front suspension and a triangulated 4-link coil over rear suspension featuring front and rear sway bars and Ride Tech adjustable coil over shocks. The front and rear chassis is tied together with Global West tubular frame connectors. Steering is controlled via an Ididit 7 position tilt column feeding a manual rack and pinion unit.
Stopping all the "GO" is a Wilwood 4 wheel disc braking system incorporating all new lines, rilled/slotted 11 inch rotors, wo chamber billet master cylinder and new emergency brake system. Working in conjunction with the suspension, rakes and drivetrain is a set of 4 Radir Tri- Rib Polished staggered aluminum 15 inch wheels and tires.....15x6 inch front with Goodyear Eagle P195/60R15s and 15x7 inch rear with Goodrich TA P225/60R15s.
The interior is all new to include Auto Custom Carpeting, ully insulated floor with Eastwood Thermo-Coustic Barrier, ight Weight Seats mounted with Corbeau double locking adjustable seat brackets, ear seat upholstery, ront and rear door panels, elt line felts, ick panels, ash pad / paint, nstrument cluster, uxiliary gauges (Oil Pressure, mps, ater Temp), actory radio block-off plate, print Steering wheel with 427 center cap emblem, eriod correct repro Ray Brown Automotive 3 inch racing seat belts, urst shifter, nd a very rare Ford Rotunda 9K RPM Tachometer.
Other new equipment includes trunk mounted 50 lb Interstate Mega-Tron 27F Truck Battery (710 CCA), ew fuel tank and pick-up. Cruising tunes are provided by a hidden glove box mounted RF controlled Kenwood Stereo.
Complete records of the build and over 150 digital pictures included with the car reflecting over 380 labor hours and $45K in parts.
