1973 Ford Mustang

Who says early '70s Mustangs can't be A-list cars? This 1973 Mustang convertible proves that cool comes in all shapes and sizes and showing 71169 miles on the clock it is believed to be an original mile Mustang. The paint is fresh the interior is original and it's got that retro '70s look that's very much back in fashion. According to the Marti Report this car is wearing a correct coat of Ivy Glow Metallic paint a color that looks great accented by the pearl white stripes. Unlike so many greens of the early '70s this one is bright and clear without that dull look that makes so many cars of the period look flat and lifeless. The finish is only a few years old which certainly helps and thanks to expert care and maintenance since it was finished it still looks fantastic. The stripes themselves were buried under the clear for a seamless look and the '73 Mustangs in particular have a distinctive look thanks to the body-colored urethane front bumper. Fit and finish are excellent which is relatively easy when you're starting with a super clean car and with two-stage urethane paint the shine is impressive. All the usual Mustang styling cues are there from the running horse emblem up front to the three-element taillights out back and it's been a long time since we've seen a '71-73 Mustang done this well. There's a lot of time and money invested here.As far as we can tell the funky Avocado Sebring Knit interior is 100% original and extremely well-maintained. For a convertible the fabric is remarkably bright and things like the carpets and dash pad haven't been destroyed by UV rays. The Mustang's interior is a fairly luxurious place to be and this one includes options like factory A/C a mini console and a power convertible top. There are a few very minor signs of age but it's pretty clear that this car has always been treated as something special. The original AM radio still lives in the dash and the gauges which include only the basics of speed and fuel level are bright and crisp. More recently a set of monogrammed floor mats were added to keep the original carpets in great shape and the cloth fabric on the seats is a lot more comfortable in the sun than sticky vinyl would be. Just in case there's also a white convertible top which also appears to be original. The trunk is outfitted with a correct mat full-sized spare and correct plaid cover. That's the original numbers-matching 302 cubic inch V8 which delivers great torque and spirited performance in the Mustang ragtop. Nowhere is it more clear that this is a super-clean survivor than under the hood where the original decals are still bright and clear the Ford Blue engine enamel is in excellent condition and even the A/C system still uses R12 refrigerant as original. Underneath there's a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and a set of 3.00 gears so it's a comfortable highway car that's ready for a road trip and the single exhaust system has a pleasing burble that never gets annoying. New shocks have been installed all around and while the undercarriage isn't detailed it shows what long-term conscientious ownership will get you. Flashy Magnum 500 wheels always look great on a Mustang and these carry big 235/60/15 Goodyear radials all around.Documented with a Marti Report this neat green machine is a wonderful combination of unusual colors and great preservation making it the kind of Mustang that will always be in demand.
