1986 Dodge Diplomat Salon

The Dodge Diplomat was the iconic police car of the 1980s, at one point they were everywhere but have largely disappeared.
This Diplomat was owned by the state of California, please note the picture showing the paper when it was sold by the state years ago. It was sold by the Office of Emergency Services, it is unknown whether it was owned by OES from when new or if it was sold to OES from CHP ( California Highway Patrol). Either way they were ordered on the same way in a practice called piggyback orders. This car still retains the original CHP spec. pushbar and antennas. The last picture shows the car as it was retired and how I got it.. Spotlights and emergency equipment were removed when retired. In most cases CHP built the cars for other state agencies along side of their own cars, expaining the same pushbar, etc. There is also the "dymo" label on the dash showing the in service date of 7 - 10 -86. This car was retired with 88,466 miles and was put into storage. To this date the mileage is 88,603 miles, a difference of 137 miles. Miles are believed to be original based on the state paperwork but I have no way to verify it.
Within the last year the car has been repainted as original, decals and emergency equipment added. The seats were reupholstered and the headliner recovered. The car starts everytime and runs well, it has not been driven any distance as you can tell by the miles. The A/C is not working, I've never looked into why. The car needs a muffler and the tires are correct, original Goodyear GT+4s They look great for show but are older and I'd advise caution driving on them at speed. It should go without saying but this car should not considered a daily driver. Please check your local laws regarding driving on a public roadway. There is a fuse under the hood which disables the equipment and it will be removed at the time of sale.
