Description:
1951 DeSoto Sportsman Delux
Rare, first year of the 2-door hardtop Desoto. Great running and driving 6 cylinder/ fluid drive automobile. Starts, runs and drives like it should, with no unusual noises, smoke or issues. The fluid drive shifts perfectly. I took it for a 100 mile drive this past weekend with no problems. The car has received an amateur restoration some years ago, with driver quality paint and upholstery. While the paint has a decent shine and is holding up well, there are the typical minor scratches and dings associated with an older restoration that has been driven. The seats, door panels and headliner have all been replaced with vinyl and the carpet replaced at the same time (no rips or tears). The bumpers and grill have been rechromed and look great. All the gauges work with the exception of the gas gauge, which will be fixed prior to delivery, with a new sending unit. All the glass is good. The trunk, floorboards and panels are solid, but show signs of past repair. The steering wheel and horn ring have been restored and are beautiful. The tube type radio hums, but does not project sound. It probably needs a tube replaced. The clock does not work. This is a great entry level car that can be enjoyed as-is, or taken to the next level. I consider it a #3 car and it is priced accordingly. Contact me for an inspection. The car is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction if sold.Vehicle Details:
