Description:

1993 Dodge Daytona IROC R/T

I'm am starting to sell off my collection of FWD Mopars that I have enjoyed over the past 25 years. This particular vehicle is a beautiful example of a very rare model. Dodge only made approximately 431 Daytona IROC R/T's from March of 1992 to March of 1993. The IROC R/T models came with the high performance 2.2 turbo III motor that was outfitted with a Lotus designed 16 valve aluminum cylinder head and it produced 224 HP (similar power as 5.0 mustangs and camaros that year). This one wears the 1993 model year only Emerald Green paint, of which only approximately 90 IROC R/T cars were painted. Additionally, it has dark gray leather interior (also a 1993 only option), of which, only approximately 15 were produced. So between the paint and interior codes, this is a super rare combination and you're not likely ever to see another one that is the same. This car has beautiful paint and the interior is near perfect. I had the car professionally polished and ceramic coated last year (first few pics are from the shop that did the work). The car has never had any rust or rot and has never been in an accident. It has never been modified and is completely stock. It runs and drives perfect and needs absolutely nothing. It is turn key and ready for its new owner.I also had the rims professionally restored about 6 or 7 years ago, and put new tires on at that time. The tires are still like new and I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere. Some interesting history on the car:The original owner lived in New Jersey and the car was daily driven for the first 4 or 5 years, and then was only occasionally driven due to a slipping clutch. The owner had the clutch replaced, and after the replacement, the car would no longer start. From the repair paperwork, there were all kinds of electrical diagnosis performed, but no one was able to figure out why it wouldn't start. So the car sat for many years before I found it.I had been searching for an IROC R/T with this particular paint and interior combination for 5 or 6 years, and even though this car did not run, it was rust free, so I went ahead and purchased it when I found it way back in 2006. As I was busy working on other FWD mopars in my collection, the car ended up sitting in my barn until around 2012. Since the car had sat non-running for over 10 years, I decided to go through and freshen up the engine (new gaskets and seals), and on a hunch, I also pulled the transmission off the engine. Thank goodness I did that, because as soon as I did, it was evident that they had installed the wrong pressure plate when they performed the installation of the new clutch, and the pressure plate was interfering with the crank sensor - hence the no start! After cleaning and reassembling everything, and then reinstalling the drivetrain with the correct pressure plate, the engine started right up and ran perfectly! I registered the car around 2014, and have put about 3 thousand miles on it since then (I only drive it a couple hundred miles a year). Other than the catalytic converter clogging up a few years ago (removed and replaced with straight pipe), and having to put a new battery in last year, the car has had zero issues over the past 10 years.I'm hoping this car can go to someone who has more time than I do to enjoy it. As the car is 30+ years old, it is being sold as is. Also, if shipping is required, I will work with you to help ship, but any shipping costs are the buyers responsibility. Please bid to win!
