1955 DeSoto Sportsman 2Door Hardtop
Hey Gang. We have a cool 1955 custom Desoto 2 Door Hardtop (which a hard to find-most are 4 doors) for sale or possible Trade. We are the 3rd owners of the car .Was in the same family until we got it. A gentleman inherited the car from his family and about 10yrs ago he stripped the car down to just a bare shell to restore. He had the body work done brought it back home and never put it back together,a few years later he passed away. So that's where we come in,we bought the car to Hotrod it -as far as we where told all parts where there including original drive train(Hemi) I was going to throw a sbc in it so I wasn't worried about the motor. Long story short we started to figure out what went where and what parts we would need. It's taken 8-9 months off and one but we finally got all the trim parts and pieces together - we decided to go the custom/ Hotrod look until we got it going -so we painted the white areas on the car base coat and the mint green on the car is a primer .We then re -installed all the trim glass ect. All chrome and trim is in original condition but all shines up awesome. We took the interior to the upholstery shop and had it all done in black -new carpet, door panel, kick panels, ront and rear seats, ear panels ect...At this point we had to figure out the running gear-so for giggles we drained all fluids changed all belts and hoses threw a batt in and she fired right up. We also pulled the carb off and had rebuilt and fuel tank pulled out and flushed and boiled out. New fuel pump. Tons of new parts. This would make a cool Hotrod or Custom or it would be very easy to put back to stock. I have a set of the factory Chysler/ Desoto wire wheels (hard to find Kelsey Hayes) on it now but also have a set of steel wheels for it with spider caps or also a few sets of Desoto hubcaps.I have tons and tons of parts for the car as I've had to buy lots parts for it then found better stuff along the way. What it still needs to make a great daily driver. At least 1 motor mount or u joint (as it clunks when you put it into gear some times) - i ordered a set of motor mounts but have not installed yet-a Brake check( it stops fine) but I've never checked them so better safe than sorry-swap out the 6 volt wiring to 12 volt. ( every thing works fine now but to upgrade ) headliner ( on eBay $225). Double check the motor as I know nothing about the motor(speedo reads 60k). We've put tons of time and money into this car. Just so we are all clear this is a running driving stopping project car with a little work it will be awesome. There is not one patch panel or rusty area on this thing I've taken pics before the interior was installed to show. All floors and panels are rust free .It is a California car all it's life - I have tons of paperwork and pics from the time it was new until now that I got from the family when we bought it.It is reg'ed in Ca with a clean title in my name also I have both original Black California license Plates ( I had to pay all back fees as the son never reg'ed or non oped the car when he inherited it - it's all good now. ) I'm looking to sale but might be up for partial trade or trade for the right deal. Looking for trade in the 12-18k range no junk please. (Examples C10,impalas,galaxie, 1930-70 early car, Coe, nything cool (can be projects but running or close to running ) big horse trailers, custom bikes ect or ? ( what do you have -all we can say is no right) if interested or you have ideas please email Tom I'm sure I'm forgetting something.SORRY THAT SOME PICS ARE UPSIDE-DOWN. DON'T KNOW WAY...........

Hey guys I've had a few emails asking if the car is disassembled as the pics might be confusing. The car is put together in the mint green primer and white paint as you see it . The others are pics of the journey the car has gone throw- it was stripped down to almost nothing and brought back to a running driving car. Again I'm sure I've forgotten something so feel free to reach out with any questions or trade thoughts. Thanks for looking!!!!!!! Tom @ 916-761-2858 or email us.
