This car has had more money put into it than what a real one would cost!(Common Sense Just Wasn't There, But a Open Check Book Was)
Heres the story...and what a story it is. This car came from a family that inherited a 70 GS 455 Stage 1 Convertible...that was rotten and wrecked...so they decided to buy a rust free $15,000 1970 Skylark Convertible shell, throw another $35,000 on restoring that with the Stage 1 Drivetrain...so I guess you are driving a 1970 (hybrid) but for all practical and intensive purposes we'll call it a Tribute. I guess they didn't realize they'd end up with nothing but a $50,000 Skylark Convertible...but thats what we have!
So, for you numbers guys...this is not a numbers matching Stage 1 car, or...even a GS...now its technically a Skylark with a bunch of time and money in it.
But, it's still a very cool car. This. car was built 2,000 miles ago, with a bead blasted body...beautiful paint...no "plastic"...new top, complete interior from Legendary,..perfect veneers...the motor, trans, and rear was all rebuilt at the same time. I believe it has the Stage 1 3:61? gear in it.
The car runs and drives great...runs and drives...like my REAL Stage 1 car...better actually. Excellent #2 car.
I don't think many stones were left unturned on this car, and its ready to drive and enjoy.
I think the REAL Stage 1 parts alone are worth $5,000-$10,000.
So...for $25,000 you can buy yourself this done car where over double was invested. This is likely the best bargain out there. (don't blame me for wasting money...I just bought it because it made sense, the build quality is excellent)
The car always starts right up, drives straight...cam has a slight lope to it, trans kicks down great...brakes stop easy...and just a sweetheart of a car to drive until it lays you back into your seat like its possessed by the Devil.
I bought this for my wife to drive...but she drove it once and said "I'm gonna kill myself in that car"...it belongs to be driven by someone with some sense. Its' no toy!
