Description:

1968 Buick Riviera

Like most car restoration novices, I started out with good intentions. I had intended to restore this classic to perfection. My family had a '68 Riviera when I was 16 & I always loved the power, styling, features, etc. So I bought this one 5 years ago & began the restoration work. Now I'm a year into starting a new business & I don't have the time & resources to complete the restoration. Time to find it a new home. Hopefully you'll be able to put this classic in perfect shape. It's not a GS (most of the ones that claim to be aren't anyway), but it has tons of options. Tilt, AM-FM stereo + 8-Track, Console with new wood trim, new upholstery - bucket seats, 5 original Buick Chrome wheels & Riviera hub/medallions, pristine trunk.

This car is definitely not perfect but itdrives well with strong acceleration & perfect shifting. Both front fenders have rust at the bottom, but I have two perfect fenders ready to install (included in price). Same with the doors - two doors & glass included in price. Car is located in Atlanta area. Shipping can be arranged at buyer's expense.

New parts already installed- power steering gear box ($275), alternator ($85), battery ($85), voltage regulator ($45), coil, power steering pump ($65), complete exhaust system ($509 including two front mufflers & two rear resonators),headlight vacuum actuators-headlights go up & down correctly like they should,($550),idler arm ($65), front-end suspension rebuild kit ($299) incl. center drag-link & all linkage parts, new black vinyl interior front & rear seats ($675), rear coil springs ($67), trunk lining & cardboard sides ($140), Power steering hose ($74), hood insulation ($46), woodtrim on console, all four power window motors have been replaced & work ($90 each = $360)

New/rebuilt/used parts included, but not yet installed- hood hinges ($230), headliner ($225), 2 lower ball joints ($84), clean/rust-free doors with glass left & right ($900), clean/rust-free front fenders left & right both with cornering light cutouts ($700), floor pan replacement panels - driver ($87), rear floor pans left & right ($212), door wiring rubber boots left & right ($130)

Nearly $6000 in parts alone!!!

What needs replacement/repair -upper/lower ball joints + A-frame bushings (occasional clunking noise in front end), AC compressor is there, but not working. Both OEM doors & front fenders have rust along bottom edges so replacement parts described above need installation. Engine smokes usually on start, but not once warmed up (valve job?). Oil stain left on concrete under oil pan area. Rust hole (5"dia.)under driver floor & minor rust slits in rear seat floor areas (thus the floor panels described above), but absolutely pristine trunk & spare tire well (already restored). Entire car needs repainting of course. Right blinker does not work. Needs alignment after ball joint/A-frame bushing installations.Vinyl roof not original, but in really good shape. Power antenna does not work. Driver's power seat motor works, but it is weak.

Original paint code R2. Trim 698
