  • When the DB4 went on the market in 1958 it marked a turning point in Aston Martin’s design. Company trademarks such as the modified Atom frames and the W.O. Bentley designed engine were now things of the past as the new car was the first Aston Martin to wear the ‘Superleggera’ bodywork of Carrozzeria Touring. The unique method of construction used aluminum-magnesium panels over steel tubing, giving the DB4 a rigid, yet undeniably light body. The new engine – a 3.7 litre straight-six with twin overhead camshafts was the brainchild of Polish engineer Tadek Marek, who prior to coming to Aston Martin, enjoyed success with General Motors and FIAT. Marek’s design was obviously similar to Jaguar’s legendary XK unit; however, the DB4’s engine utilizes all-aluminum construction, resulting in a lighter, more powerful engine than the ones that preceded it. The result was a stunning fastback design that perfectly married the lines of Italy, while being undeniably British. This 240 horsepower Gentlemen’s Sports Car was the fastest that Britain had seen to date.
The DB4 was manufactured between October 1958 and June 1963, during which the styling changed significantly enough that today Aston Martin enthusiasts refer to the DB4 as being produced in five different series. The ‘Series II’ automobiles are quite unique for being the first to feature a front hinged bonnet, larger brakes, as well as various minor mechanical improvements for better performance over the Series 1 cars. The Series II DB4 is also unique as it is the last to feature the one piece “cathedral” style tail lamps, the tall bonnet scoop and the original grille design – characteristics considered by many to be iconic to the design of the classic DB4. Only 351 Series II cars would be constructed and given their unique styling cues, they have become commonplace among some of the finest auto collections across the globe.
The 1960 Aston Martin DB4 Series II Sports Saloon featured here is finished in gorgeous Almond Green with an impeccably-kept black leather interior. This magnificent motorcar is among one of the finest examples we have seen in years. A comprehensive restoration was performed by marquee specialists in New Zealand and it has recently been completely serviced (over $23,000 in receipts are included). We are proud to offer this incredible example to the most demanding collector, investor or enthusiast who aspires to own the best. Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013 and posting gains of 395-percent over the last 10-years. Financing

Finance rates as low as 5.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us, (314)291-7000 or credit@schmitt.com
