1949 Willys Jeepster

This 1949 Willys Overland Jeepster has been in our family for 56 years.We have a copy of the original Illinois title listing the purchase date of 8/12/1967 by my inlaws.My husband drove it for his junior year of high school in 1968 in central Illinois until he decided he needed something warmer to drive.

The Jeepster was driven in a parade in Teutopolis, Illinois while our son was visiting his grandparents on vacation in 1986 after our move to Arizona in 1985. After not being driven for several years and after our son had graduated from an automotive trade school in 1993 or 1994, he helped his grandparents to restore the Jeepster to a running condition.

After the death of his grandfather in 1998, the Jeepster was given to our son, their only grandchild. The Jeepster was trailered to Arizona in 1999. It was retitled in Arizona in March 2000, licensed and driven occasionally during the following 2-3 years. It has been garaged or kept under a car cover since that time.

The Jeepster is a flathead 4 cylinder, 3 speed on the on the column with centrifugal overdrive. A friend at one time started to refinish the paint and used a sand blaster on much of it.. The Jeepster has not been ran for several years. It will need new tires and gas tank cleaned at a minimum. The odometer shows 38,425 miles. But as it is the same mileage as when it was retitled in 2000, it doesn’t appear to work. The tires are 6.70-15

In addition to photos of the Jeepster in its current condition is a photo when it was first purchased along with photos of it in the parade in 1986 and summer of 1993 or 1994 when it was being worked on.

As our son has no children to inherit the Jeepster and has more interest in upgrading his Jeep Wrangler, he has decided to sell the Jeepster. We’re hoping it finds a home where it can be restored and appreciated. Please feel free to contact us if we can provide any additional information.
