1950 Willys Overland Jeepster runs & drives great restoration canidate original
1950 Willys jeepster
Here is a 1950 Willy's Overland Jeepster. This is as close to a barn find as you can get without it actually being in a barn. I love old collectible and muscle cars and have many in my personal collectionbut am by no means anywhere close to an expert on Jeepsters so hopefully I'm correct in my description. To me this car looks to be the type car I would love to find if it was what my true passion is for, 1st generation Camaro's. Everywhere you look on this car it appears to be either factory correct original (which is what I think) or era correct. The only thing I believe that is not original to the car is the spark plug wires, pper radiator hose& clampsand the front floor pans. The floor pans have been patched sometime thru the cars history. Some of the things that I haven't seen on other Jeepsters that this one hasis the original AM radio, he overdrive knob & cablethat is not frozen, he frame has never been modified for another engine or trans as both of these look to be original to the car, till has the original 6 volt electric system with generator, ir cleaner, orns, iring harness that doesn't look spliced or cut up and so much more. The only chrome or stainless I see that is missing inside or out is the hood emblem and the door mirror lens( it is with the car but it separated from the base) and the radio antenna that the mast is broken. I spent about 30 minutes with the car when I bought it andnow it will run and drive down the road. It shifted thru all of the gears without issue but I did not try to engage the overdrive as I wasn't sure of the proper engagement procedure. The brakes worked along with the heater blower motor, ights& signals, ipers and I believe most all of the gauges. I could not get the radio to come on, ot sure if it is a fuse or radio issue. The seats look to be original and in pretty good shape along with the door panels and firewall pad. It had a matched set of 5bias ply tires on it but I had to swap out the steers as the were destroyed from being flat for so long. Like I said before this is the type car I look for to do a full and correct restoration. It will need rockers and floor pans as most all Jeepsters do, he doors sag so I'm guessing the chassis mounts are also weak but this car gives you a pretty much totally complete & original car that is in surprisingly good shape to work with. I'm sure you know what they are worth when properly restored and how much fun they are in drive it everywhere condition. No matter what you are looking for in a Jeepster this car is a good place to start. The odometer only reads 3734 miles andit's hard tobelieve it's original but I also cant believe it has been driven more than 100k miles to get back to that reading so your guess is as good as mine on that. I think it would have better odds of being that low of miles more so than being over 100k but I'm not going to go out on a limb and say that. I think the buy it now is more than fair for the condition of this 66 year old car but the reserve isset where I think it will definitely sell. Unfortunately I have way to many cars and not enough time to finish or enjoy them so it's gotta go. Good luck bidding and if you have any questions or information that I might either be interested in or that I got something wrong please let me know.
